Abstract: In a hydraulic system which is biased to a minimum system pressure using a bias valve or other flow obstruction disposed in a tank line, there is provided in a bypass line to the bias valve an evacuating and filling valve through which the hydraulic system is first evacuatable and subsequently fillable with a hydraulic fluid. The valve closes the bypass when a differential pressure overcomes a preadjusted force of a spring element. For this purpose, the valve possesses a displaceably mounted valve body with an integrated throttle and a seal face which closes a through opening when the valve body is shifted against the bias force of the spring element due to the pressure difference.

Abstract: A turf maintenance equipment unit, such as a riding mower having two side cutting units and a front cutting unit operatively connected to a traction frame. A hydraulic traction system is provided for propelling the traction frame in forward and reverse. This traction system includes a pair of front drive motors and a rear drive motor connected in parallel to a pump. A pressure reducing device limits fluid pressure to the rear drive motor when the traction frame is moving in reverse to increase the climbing ability of the traction frame in reverse.

Abstract: Pressure-reducing devices for use in pneumatic systems which include apparatus, such as air cylinders and the like, that are operated from a source of air under pressure. The devices are adjustable so that a common source of high-pressure air can be used in connection with different apparatus operable at different reduced pressures, and the devices will permit optimum selection of air pressures for each such apparatus. In one form, the device is a platelike structure that can be sandwiched in between a conventional solenoid operated air valve and a subplate manifold therefor. Other forms of devices are disclosed for use in other locations in pneumatic systems.

Abstract: A safe hydraulic drive system and process, comprising at least one first cylinder chamber and a second, separate cylinder chamber which are connected to one another via a connecting line to form a fluid-filled hydraulic circuit, and a hydraulic drive for conveying the fluid from one cylinder chamber, via the connecting line, into the other cylinder chamber in which the connecting line is arranged. The connecting line has at least one parallel system, between the hydraulic drive and one of the two cylinder chambers, including at least one first sub-connection with at least one first stop valve and a second sub-connection with a baffle arranged therein. The connecting line, excluding the second sub-connection, has a first flow resistance and the second sub-connection has a second flow resistance due to the baffle arranged therein, which is greater than the first flow resistance for the fluid, wherein the drive system is provided with at least one open first stop valve in normal mode and with a closed first stop valve in safe mode for conveying the fluid, and a suitably high second flow resistance has been selected so that a maximum permissible speed for a piston rod is not exceeded in safe mode, even when an external force acts on the drive system in the direction of movement of the piston rod.

Abstract: A flow control apparatus for a fluid cylinder for a workpiece holder includes a flow restricting member and a flexible sealing member. The flow restricting member defines a first passageway and a sealing surface. The flexible sealing member is positioned around the sealing surface. A second passageway is defined between the sealing member and a sealing surface of the flow restricting member when the sealing member is pushed away from the sealing surface in response to fluid flow in a first direction. When fluid flow is applied in the opposite direction, the sealing member moves to engage the sealing surface to substantially limit or preclude fluid flow between the sealing member and the sealing surface in the second direction. The fluid flow in the second direction is thus restricted to flow through the first passageway, thereby slowing or controlling the flow in the second direction.
