The invention relates to a of processing a liquid natural gas stream at a LNG import terminal. The method comprises operating a vaporization unit obtaining a pressurized vaporized natural gas stream and operating a slushification unit to obtain a slush of liquid and solids and a cooled vapour phase. The method further comprises withdrawing the cooled vapour phase from the slushifier providing a cooled vapour stream and passing the cooled vapour stream to the vaporization unit.

A vapor pressure regulation system includes a vessel including a vessel wall that defines an enclosure, and a temperature adjustment mechanism coupled to the vessel. A heat transfer between the temperature adjustment mechanism and the vessel is adjusted based on at least a vapor pressure within the vessel to facilitate regulating the vapor pressure within the vessel.

Apparatus and methods for vaporizing LNG while producing sufficient volume of compressed natural gas at sufficient pressure to meet the needs of internal combustion engines, gas turbines, or other high consumption devices operating on natural gas or on a mixture of diesel and natural gas. The LNG vaporizer of the present invention incorporates a reciprocating pump to provide vaporized LNG to an output at rates and pressures as required by the particular application. The heat rejected into the engine coolant and the exhaust stream from an artificially loaded internal combustion engine, as well as the hydraulic heat resulting from artificially loading the engine, is transferred to the LNG as the LNG passes through a heat exchanger. Exhaust heat is transferred to the engine coolant after the coolant passes through the heat exchanger.

Disclosed is a liquefied natural gas storage apparatus. The apparatus includes a heat insulated tank and liquefied natural gas contained in the tank. The tank has heat insulation sufficient to maintain liquefied natural gas therein such that most of the liquefied natural gas stays in liquid. The contained liquefied natural gas has a vapor pressure from about 0.3 bar to about 2 bar. The apparatus further includes a safety valve configured to release a part of liquefied natural gas contained in the tank when a vapor pressure of liquefied natural gas within the tank becomes higher than a cut-off pressure. The cut-off pressure is from about 0.3 bar to about 2 bar.

A primary stream of boiled-off natural gas taken from the ullage space of a liquefied natural gas storage vessel is compressed by a compressor. A flow of liquefied natural gas taken from the storage vessel is partially and forcedly vaporised in a vaporiser 36 so as to form a secondary stream of natural gas containing unvaporised liquefied natural gas. Unvaporised liquefied natural gas is disengaged from the secondary stream in a phase separator. The secondary stream is mixed with the compressed primary stream to form a supply of natural gas fuel. The fuel supply may be formed and used on board an ocean-going LNG tanker.

A method for transferring a cryogenic fluid from a floating vessel. The cryogenic fluids to be transferred can include liquefied hydrocarbon gases such as LNG. The method includes the steps of pumping a reduced flow of a cryogenic fluid into a first end and/or a second end of a conduit to begin pre-cooling the conduit. Pre-cooling also includes pumping a reduced flow of the cryogenic fluid into the conduit at a point intermediate the first end and the second end so that different sections of the conduit are cooled simultaneously. When the conduit has cooled to a temperature suitable for transferring the cryogenic fluid, an increased flow of the cryogenic fluid is pumped into the first end of the conduit to transfer the cryogenic fluid from the floating vessel. The cryogenic fluid can then be directed from the second end of the conduit to a storage tank on shore or onboard a second floating vessel.
