摘要: A system for maintaining atmospheric conditions in an enclosed building within desired parameters and rapidly evacuating abnormally high amounts of airborne pollutants from localized areas of the building. Conditioned air, including sufficient outside air, is continuously admitted to the building interior from a plurality of air handling units disposed about the building to maintain the interior of the building under a slight positive pressure throughout. The air handling units, at least in areas where concentrations of airborne contaminants are generated include, in addition to outside air and building air inlets and a building air outlet, an outlet exhausting to the outside. Sensors and/or scanning units located throughout the building monitor various atmospheric conditions and transmit signals indicative of the noted conditions to a central computer. The computer, in turn, compares the observed conditions to predetermined desired conditions and controls the air handling units as necessary to maintain the conditions within desired parameters. When an abnormal airborne pollutant condition is noted in a particular area, the outside air inlet and building air outlets are closed and the building return air inlet and exhaust outlet are opened so that contaminated air is withdrawn from the region and exhausted to the outside.

摘要: A method of determining and controlling a load by a controller. The method comprises the steps of transmitting a signal for a first predetermined time period on an electrical line having a load in parallel with a capacitor; monitoring the electrical line for electrical activity within a second predetermined time period following the first time period; and controlling the load in response to the presence or absence of the electrical activity.

A baffle is provided in the housing to direct a portion of the air from each fan into the air flowing from the other fan in order to mix preconditioned air with the room air. An electrostatic filter and white noise generator can be mounted in the housing and a light sensor and occupant sensor operatively connected to the controller.

摘要: A housing contains two thermostats which thermostats are interwired so as to enable one thermostat to control a heating operation and the other thermostat to control a cooling operation. The housing contains at least one AC power receptacle coupled to the heating thermostat and one AC power receptacle coupled to the cooling thermostat. In this manner a heater would be plugged into the one receptacle while an air conditioner would be plugged into the other receptacle. The individual thermostats would be set for a temperature heating range being the difference between the settings. The wiring between the thermostats causes the heating thermostat to come on when the temperature falls below the values set. This in turn causes the plugged in heater to operate. When the temperature is above a value set by the heating thermostat, the unit removes power from all AC receptacles. As soon as the temperature rises above a value set by the cooling thermostat, the cooling thermostat causes the associated AC receptacle to be energized thus turning on the air conditioner. The air conditioner will remain on until the temperature falls below the setting, and at this condition, both the heating unit and the air conditioning unit will be off. As soon as the temperature falls below the value set by the heating thermostat, the heater is again turned on. This series of operations continues maintaining the room at a comfortable temperature within a very narrow range which range may be for example between 4 to 10 degrees depending upon the accuracy of the thermostats.

摘要: The invention relates to apparatus for heating and/or cooling a room which is large enough to require at least two heat exchanger units. Controls are provided which dependingly relate the outgoing air stream temperatures of the heat exchangers to avoid the causing of drafts in the room. One of the heat exchangers is a guide unit and all others are follower units. Each heat exchanger has its own individual control such as a valve for admitting heat exchange fluid to the unit. The guide unit has associated room temperature sensor and setting devices for controlling its individual control. Each follower unit has a pair of temperature sensors for jointly controlling its associated individual control. One sensor of each pair is in the outflowing air stream of the guide unit and the other sensor of the pair is in the outflowing air stream of the associated follower unit.
