Abstract: A III-V semiconductor waveguide nanoridge structure having a narrow supporting base with a freestanding wider body portion on top, is disclosed. In one aspect, the III-V waveguide includes a PIN diode. The waveguide comprises a III-V semiconductor waveguide core formed in the freestanding wider body portion; at least one heterojunction incorporated in the III-V semiconductor waveguide core; a bottom doped region of a first polarity positioned at a bottom of the narrow supporting base, forming a lower contact; and an upper doped region of a second polarity, forming an upper contact. The upper contact is positioned in at least one side wall of the freestanding wider body portion.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a back light unit including a quantum dot sheet capable of recycling light converted by quantum dots, and a display apparatus including the back light unit. The back light unit according to an example includes: a light source; and a quantum dot sheet configured to convert light generated in the light source into white light, wherein the quantum dot sheet includes a fluorescent member including quantum dots; a first barrier film disposed on the rear surface of the fluorescent member; and a second barrier film disposed on the front surface of the fluorescent member, and having a predetermined reflectivity to reflect the white light converted by the fluorescent member backward toward the fluorescent member.

Abstract: The invention provides a liquid crystal display device, a liquid crystal display module and a liquid crystal cell thereof. The liquid crystal cell includes an upper substrate, a lower substrate, and a mixture of a quantum dot material and a liquid crystal material disposed between the upper substrate and the lower substrate. The quantum dot material includes a red quantum dot material and a green quantum dot material. A mass ratio of a total mixing amount of the two quantum dot materials occupied in a total mass of the mixture is 0.05˜5 wt %. As to the liquid crystal cell, the introduction of the QD material promotes the directional arrangement of liquid crystal molecules and thus plays a role of alignment; in another aspect, the liquid crystal cell being used in conjunction with a backlight source of blue or white LED can enhance the color gamut.
