摘要: An isolation amplifier includes an input circuit at high voltage potential with an input for a measurement signal to be transmitted, an input circuit configuration providing a coupling section signal representing the measurement signal, and a high-voltage-side control unit for driving the input circuit, a galvanically isolating coupling section for the potential-free transmission of the coupling section signal to an output circuit at low-voltage potential with an output circuit configuration for generating an output signal from the transmitted coupling section signal, an output for the output signal and at least one low-voltage-side control unit for generating control signals, input elements for inputting control commands and/or parameters into the high-voltage-side control unit, a low-voltage-side arrangement of all the input elements provided for the parameterization of the high-voltage-side control unit, exclusively in a low-voltage circuit, and a galvanically isolating control channel for transmitting the parameters for driving the input circuit.

摘要: An improved optical amplifier is disclosed with reduced signal-induced, deleterious, nonlinear effects, such as crosstalk, inter-modulation distortion and other saturation-induced effects. The invention comprises an optical amplifier with a compensation loop, such as a feed-forward or a feed-backward loop. This loop provides additional pumping to the gain medium associated with the amplifier, thereby compensating for what would otherwise be deleterious, signal-induced variations in the gain of the optical amplifier.

摘要: A switching amplifying method or a switching amplifier for obtaining one or more than one linearly amplified replicas of an input signal, is highly efficient, and does not have the disadvantage of “dead time” problem related to the class D amplifiers. Another aspect of the present invention provides a switching amplifier that is completely off when there is no input signal. Yet another aspect of the present invention provides a switching amplifier for obtaining a plurality of different linearly amplified replicas of the input signal, and adds more slave outputs easily and economically.

摘要: A class D modulator 100 is self oscillating. It includes an input stage 110, an operational amplifier 120, an integrator 130 and a pulse width modulator 140. A start-up generator 22 generates signals ENABLE and MUTE. The MUTE signal is connected to the input stage 110 to prevent any unwanted, initial sound. The ENABLE signal connects a start-up voltage source to the integrator 130 to set the initial voltage for integration. The ENABLE signal is coupled to a dead time control circuit 16 which controls the operation of the output power transistors 42, 44 to assure that the low side power transistor 44 is turned on before the high side transistor 42.

摘要: A split-path isolation amplifier (10) employs a transformer (30) in a high path (26) and a single-input, dual-output closed-loop optocoupler (66) in a low path (24) to achieve a flat, wide frequency response without need for frequency compensation adjustments. In a low path frequency region (106), the optocoupler provides all or most of the signal to the output. The isolation amplifier employs a substantially overlapped crossover frequency region (104) in which the high path signal is applied to a primary winding (28) of the transformer, and the low path signal is applied differentially to secondary windings (40, 42) of the transformer. At frequencies below the crossover frequency range, the signal from the optocoupler dominates as the signal coupled from the primary winding rolls off. At frequencies above the crossover frequency range, the signal coupled from the primary winding dominates as the signal from the optocoupler rolls off. At frequencies within the crossover frequency range magnetic flux components generated by the primary and secondary transformer windings co-act to provide a combined output signal having a flat frequency response. The only adjustments are those required to match the gain of the low path to the gain of the high path and to compensate for any offset in the low path.

摘要: A flyback modulated switching power amplifier is described. The amplifier employs a waveform generator to produce an input signal and power switches capable of controlled conduction in one direction and uncontrolled conduction in the other. An inductor is coupled to the power source through the power switches so that flyback current can flow through a switch in its uncontrolled direction from the inductor when the switch is turned off. A conduction feedback circuit detects conduction by the switches and a comparator detects whether the output is "too high" or "too low" relative to the input signal. A logic control selectively activates the switches to control the output voltage, but not until the last switch to be turned off has stopped all conduction, including flyback conduction.
