    摘要: A Pre-distortion mechanism for transmit path non-linearity in xDSL AFE is disclosed in the present invention. The AFE includes a line driver and a pre-distortion signal generator. The line driver receives an input differential signal and generates an output differential signal. The input differential signal includes a first input signal and a second input signal. The output differential signal includes a first output signal and a second output signal. The line driver receives the first input signal to generate the first output signal and receives the second input signal to generate the second output signal. The pre-distortion signal generator is coupled to input ends and output ends of the line driver. The pre-distortion signal generator generates a pre-distortion signal according to a first difference between the first input signal and the first output signal, and a second difference between the second input signal and the second output signal so as to adjust an output state of the analog front-end transmitter having a pre-distortion mechanism.

    摘要: The invention relates to a method, an arrangement and a device for transmitting information between a central unit (DSLAM) and at least one decentralised unit (TN1, TN2, TN3) in a communication network. During, for example, the training phase in a decentralised unit (TN1, TN2, TN3), a distance between the at least one decentralised unit (TN1, TN2, TN3) and the central transmission unit (DSLAM) is estimated and a value (kl0) representing said distance is transmitted to the central unit (DSLAM). In the central unit (DSLAM), a value (kl0′) representing a fictional distance is calculated using the transmitted value (kl0) and said value (kl0′) is transmitted to the decentralised unit (TN1, TN2, TN3).     摘要: Apparatus and methods relating to synchronization of communication equipment are disclosed. Synchronization information received from a bonded communication link can be used to synchronize local and/or remote communication equipment, such as femtocell sites coupled to nodes in a ring network. This may involve isolating a frequency reference signal from a DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) communication link which is a constituent link of a bonded communication link, for example. In a ring network, received synchronization information could be used in synchronizing a locally connected installation of communication equipment, and passed for transmission in the ring network for synchronizing other communication equipment. Such dropping and passing of an analog frequency reference signal could be applied in networks having other topologies as well. At least some embodiments of the invention are applicable to optical links. One or more dedicated wavelengths of an optical link could be used to transfer a frequency reference signal, for example. Other functions, such as quality monitoring, quality reporting, and/or predictive traffic forwarding may be provided in some embodiments.

    摘要: A system for implementing multiple communication channels on a single twisted pair transmission line is disclosed. The system derives additional communication channels by way of a separate transceiver unit for each derived line. Each transceiver unit communicates in a separate predetermined frequency band. Each transceiver unit, upon connection to the transmission line, automatically utilizes the lowest unoccupied frequency band by monitoring each frequency band for the presence of signal power. The disclosed system includes a loop diagnostic test unit adapted for testing said telephone line using narrow-band and mid-band frequency test signals; a test system controller and a test system server to provide the DSL assessments to a user via an appropriate interface. In addition, the disclosed methods include the basic steps of: accessing the telephone line along the test path that includes selected hardware such as a voice switch test bus, central office splitter, service provider instruments and terminations; ascertaining various line characteristics along the test path using mid-band and narrow-band frequency signals; analyzing the line characteristics to identify line conditions that affect DSL service; and determining the impact of the line conditions on DSL service.

    摘要: An active multiplexer contains a switching mechanism that connects one of a plurality of upstream links from corresponding nodes in a communication network to an upstream output based on information contained in a MAP. The MAP contains scheduling information of the next user stations, which are coupled to the nodes, and which are scheduled to transmit in the upstream direction during a period following the current time. Station identifiers are associated with their corresponding node identifier during a ranging burst interval into a station/node table, which is used in conjunction with the MAP to control the active multiplexer. Based on the MAP, the active multiplexer connects the node, as determined from the station/node table, that serves the station that is scheduled to transmit upstream traffic and disconnects other nodes.
