    摘要: A live rotavirus vaccine against bovine and human rotaviruses comprising a strain of live bovine rotavirus which does not hemagglutinate primate red blood cells, gives at least about 20 fold higher titers when neutralized with antiserum therefor as compared to heterologous bovine or primate rotaviruses, and has a migration pattern of its RNA genome segments when determined by PAGE substantially as shown by lane WC3 in FIG. 1, the strain of bovine rotavirus having been serially passaged in primate kidney tissue culture a sufficient number of times that when administered to humans the vaccine is immunogenic without causing disease.

    摘要: A new and improved formulation and method for making same, for a broad spectrum antimicrobial treatment for bacterial and viral infections in cattle, horses, pigs, sheep and other domestic and non-domestic animals. More particularly, the present invention relates to a treatment which enables rapid relief of symptoms in an affected animal with a mortality of less than 1 percent by providing trace organic minerals in microgram quantities which act as nutrients for the animal. The treatment provides further nutritional requirements in the form of vitamin A, folic acid and vitamin D3 supplements, cobalt amino acid chelates and dried kelp, a source of minerals, amino acids, simple and complex carbohydrates, iodine and fiber. In addition, a bacterial innoculum consisting of Acidophilus species is introduced which would inhibit growth of pathogenic or opportunistic species of bacteria by competition for nutrients as well as providing for required vitamins as a by-product of metabolism.

    摘要: A vaccine for infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR) is prepared by non-ionic detergent extraction of IBR virus infected cells. The extracted viral envelope protein can be prepared in injectable dose form by combination with an oil-type adjuvant. The vaccine produces a high level of antibody response, and is capable of eliminating virus shed for animals infected after immunization.

    摘要: Pathogenic infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR) virus may be modified by serial passages in non-bovine tissue cultures until it becomes non-pathogenic when applied to the intranasal passages of bovines. Such application will result in the induction of high levels of interferon in nasal secretions as well as the production of local antibodies and a long lasting immunity against IBR infection by virtue of the induction of specific circulating antibodies. The invention includes the method of modifying the IBR virus, a method of preparing a vaccine therefrom and a method of immunizing bovines and promoting production of high levels of interferon in nasal secretions.
