Abstract:
A conduit protection system, comprising: a conduit for carrying a fluid; a sealed vessel surrounding the conduit along a protected zone of the conduit; and a valve moveable between a first position for obstructing fluid flow through the protected zone of the conduit and a second position for enabling fluid flow through the protected zone of the conduit, wherein the valve is biased to the first position, and wherein the valve is fluidically coupled to the sealed vessel such that a positive pressure within the sealed vessel is operable to move the valve to the second position against the bias. Also, a method for protecting a fluid carrying conduit.
Abstract:
Apparatus, methods and systems for inspecting and/or sensing defects in a thermal pressure relief device. The thermal pressure relief apparatus may comprise a bulb having a fluid therein. In some implementations, a sensor may be used to determine whether the fluid within the bulb exceeds a fill level threshold. Upon determining that the fluid is below the fill level threshold, an action may be taken. In some implementations, the action may comprise providing a notification.

Abstract:
A burst disc arrangement for a cryostat comprising a replaceable burst disc (52) held in compression between a high-pressure flange formed at an end of a high-pressure conduit (12), and a low-pressure flange (60) formed at an end of a low-pressure conduit (14). In particular, the burst disc arrangement further comprises: a housing (50) enclosing the high- and low-pressure flanges; and compression means (56), distributed around the housing (50) and being arranged to bear upon the one of the flanges (60), so as to urge it towards the other flange, thereby retaining the burst disc (52) in compression between the flanges. The housing (50) includes a first opening (20) large enough to allow the replaceable burst disc (52) to pass therethrough.
Abstract:
A hose separation transmitter system includes a shock sensor and a transmitter that are secured to the delivery hose. If the hose becomes disconnected, the shock sensor will generate a shock signal when the hose falls to the ground and the transmitter will respond to the shock signal by generating an encoded RF signal. A receiver at the vehicle receives the RF signal from the transmitter, determines that a hose disconnect has occurred, and automatically disables a fluid pump or closes a valve to stop the flow of fluid. The shock sensor preferably uses a strip of piezoelectric material. Related methods are also disclosed. For quick connect and disconnect, the shock sensor and transmitter are preferably secured to the hose by a hook and loop fabric material. The transmitter is immune to normal ambient vibration levels. Related methods are also disclosed.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an indicator system for use with inflating devices that use a cylinder of compressed gas. The indicator system is comprised of a cylinder adapter which receives and supports a cylinder and, concurrently, is received by an inflating device. The cylinder adapter includes an indication means that signals whether the attached cylinder is full or has been discharged by way of the indication means being responsive to the high pressure release from the cylinder during a discharge. The indication means incorporates the use of the color green to signify that the cylinder is full and the color red to signify that the cylinder has been discharged. The indicator system is designed to have a one-time use after which it is disposed of.
Abstract:
A pneumatic alarm system in which a single source of gas under pressure is connected to one side of a balanced regulator valve while a plurality of rupturable sensors are connected by a manifold to the other side of the balanced regulator valve which is maintained in an inactive state when the manifold pressure and the source pressure bear a predetermined relationship to each other. When the relationship terminates by the rupture of one or more of the sensors, the valve activates and connects the pressurized single gas source to an audible warning device to cause an alarm to be sounded.
Abstract:
A monitoring device for a reversible blow-out disc protects an installation against overpressure. The mointoring device comprises electric probes in the space behind the rupture disc. The probes distinguish between various possible types of malfunction in the installation.
