Abstract: An adaptable buckle system that can be secured to a loop in a strap or cable to replace a broken buckle or add a buckle. The present invention includes two component members, a male connector and a female connector, which removably engage to form a fastening buckle. Both components have an interlocking side-release mechanism at the end opposing the connector. The interlocking side-release mechanism comprises a receiver on one side of the component member configured to receive a prong extending from the free end of a flexible arm pivotally affixed to the other side of the component member. The flexible arm may be fed through a loop in a strap or cable. Ridges that line the inner surface of the prong and inner wall of the receiver cause a cross-biting action that secures the prong in place. The prong is released when the arm is twisted thereby rotating the prong.

Abstract: A seat belt has an upper end mounted at the occupant shoulder and a lower end mounted adjacent the occupant lap. A latch plate assembly carried by the belt engages a buckle. The latch plate assembly includes a housing having a pair of flanges and a depression extending laterally between the flanges. A lock bar pivotally mounted on the flanges has a clamping surface moving toward and away from the depression upon pivoting movement of the lock bar. The belt wraps around the lock bar so that a force applied to the belt pivots the lock bar and the clamping surface of the lock bar clamps the belt into the depression to lock the belt against movement through the latch plate assembly. The lock bar pivot axis is closer to the clamping surface than the opposite side edge around which the belt wraps to increase the clamping force.

Abstract: A litter strap that is easily adjustable to any length while simultaneously secure under tension includes an elongate strap extending between first and second parts of a two-piece buckle. The strap may be threaded through one of the buckle parts and manually slidable therethrough for adjusting a length of the litter strap assembly. A flexible pinch guard may be affixed to the strap so that the pinch guard substantially overlaps the first buckle part when the buckle parts are decoupled and may be wider than the strap and sized to substantially overlap the first and second buckle parts when the buckle parts are coupled.
