    摘要: A functional element arrangement which includes a functional element which is to be mounted on a component, especially but not exclusively on a brittle or non-rigid component made of a material containing cavities or pores, e.g. plastic, wood, metal foams, plastic or metal filled with hollow bodies, or another relatively soft material, selectively embodied as a sandwich construction or as a composite material e.g. in the form of a single layered or multilayered structure comprising, for example, two layers of sheet metal or plastic and a core made of one of the above-mentioned materials. The invention is characterized in that it is provided with an auxiliary assembly element which enables the functional element to be blocked using forming techniques when it is mounted on the component in a riveting process or a stamping and riveting process. The invention is further characterized in that, preferably, at least one device is provided to ensure rotational security between the functional element and the component and/or between the auxiliary assembly element and the component. The invention also relates to a functional element, an auxiliary assembly element, an assembled component and various methods for producing assembled components.

    摘要: A fastener forming apparatus produces a fastener of metal having a rod-to-plate connection often found in such applications as an automotive door latch striker. The fastener is formed and assembled in a single operation and with only a rod and a stamped plate for parts. The forming apparatus has a die structure for securing the rod, a base for vertically aligning the rod, a compression pedestal for vertically aligning the plate and a suspended stamping structure. The stamping structure moves from a pre-staged position for loading of the rod and plate to the die structure, to an intermediate position wherein a head is substantially formed unitarily at the end portion of the rod on one side of the plate, and formation of a unitary protrusion is initiated from the same end portion but on an opposite side of the plate. The structure then moves to a formed position completing the formation of the protrusion, clamping the plate between the head and protrusion, and thus firmly attaching the plate to the rod producing the fastener.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for joining adjacent members, wherein the members are placed in an overlapping layered relationship. The members are clamped between a die and a blank holder. Once clamped, a clinching operation is performed on the members to create at least a partial bond between them. In addition to the clinching operation, a level of vibrational energy is imparted to at least one of the members to reduce clamping force requirements, promote material flow and deformation and provide increased joint strength.

    摘要: A self-piercing rivet setting apparatus (9) comprises a punch (14) and a die (18) for driving a self-piercing rivet into a plurality of workpieces including a receiving-side workpiece adjacent to the die. The self-piercing rivet has a large-diameter head and a hollowed leg. The leg is driven to pierce the workpieces while allowing the front end of the leg to be expanded and deformed in its radial outward direction and to be stayed in the receiving-side workpiece without passing therethrough, to connect the plurality of workpieces with each other by the expanded leg and the head. The die includes a first die member (26) having a first cavity (25), and a second die member (30) having a second cavity (27) and a protruding pin (29) provided at the center of the second cavity. The first cavity is adapted to allow the leg of the self-piercing to be driven into the workpieces in a straight direction when the self-piercing rivet is pressed by the punch (14). The second cavity and the protruding pin are adapted to allow the leg of the self-piercing rivet being piercing the workpieces to be expanded and deformed in its radial outward direction.
