Abstract:
A method for impressing holographic images or holograms in the surface of sporting and fitness products such as ball bats and bicycle frames. The surfaces of metal shims and print rolls bearing holograms are hardened as by coating them with thin amorphous diamond coatings or diamond like coatings so the holograms can be embossed into many thousands of metal objects with clarity and consistency.
Abstract:
A device re-shapes formed wire after processes such as annealing where wire is wound on bobbins. The device includes a reservoir for containing lubricant having a first open end and a second open end. The first end of the reservoir is closed by a guide mechanism for guiding the wire into the reservoir. The second end of the reservoir is closed by a wire shaping for shaping the wire when the wire is pulled therethrough. The wire shaping mechanism reduces the cross-sectional area of the wire by no more than 24%.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition for metal forming and cutting has at least one compound of the formula (I): R1null(AO)nnullOOCnull(CH2)mnullPhnull(R2)p where R1 is a C1 to C15 alkyl group AO is an alkyleneoxy group which may vary along the (poly) alkylenoxy chain; n is 0 or from 1 to 100; m is 0, 1 or 2; and Ph is a phenly group, which may be substituted with groups (R2)p; where each R2 is independently an alkyl, halogen, haloalky or alkoxy group; and p is 0 or from 1 to 3; The lubricant composition also includes at least one lubricant additive selected from the group consisting of an organic ester additive, a polyalkylene glycol additive, a sulphur-containing synthetic additive, a sulphur-containing oleochemical additive, a sulphonate, a phosphorus-containing additive and a chlorinated paraffin additive. Also described are a method of using the lubricant composition in metal forming and cutting applications and the use of the lubricant composition in metal forming and cutting applications. The lubricant composition may also be used in water-based compositions for such applications.
Abstract:

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a coating solution to be applied on the surface of metals or metal alloys, a process for cold forming of metals and metal alloys using said coating solution, and a coated blank made of a metal or a metal alloy.
Abstract:
A doctor blade for removing water from a mating member, such as a grooved elastic belt in the press part of a papermaking machine, comprises a resin-impregnated fibrous laminate, in which at least a part of the warp of a base material in the laminate, which comes into contact with the mating member, is brush-shaped, so that the warp enters the insides of the grooves to remove water therefrom.
Abstract:
A doctor blade for removing water, which excels in water removal capability and shape retention capacity, and suppresses abrasion of the belt or other mating member with which it cooperates, is a fibrous laminate comprising integrated base material and batt fiber layers. By impregnating resin into one side of the fibrous laminate, a layer in which the amount of impregnated resin is large and a layer in which the amount of impregnated resin is small are provided. In use, the layer in which the amount of resin is small is in contact with a belt or other mating member. The doctor blades can be adapted to the mating member easily, and excel in the water removal capability and shape retention, and suppress abrasion of the mating member.
Abstract:
In a doctor blade, which suppresses abrasion of a mating member and excels in water removal capability and shape retention capacity over a long time, resin is impregnated into a fibrous laminate composed of base materials and batt layers integrated by needle punching, and an adjustment is made so that the void content is between 50% and 80%.
Abstract:
A strip rolling mill includes a pair of upper and lower work rolls for rolling a strip, intermediate rolls for supporting each of the paired work rolls, and back-up rolls for supporting each of the intermediate rolls. Each of the work rolls is provided with a tapered portion at one end thereof so that the tapered portions of the work rolls are on opposite sides of roll bodies thereof with respect to roll axis directions. When the material with a constant width is being rolled, axial positions of the work rolls are set at appropriate positions and axial positions of the intermediate rolls are changed to control a thickness distribution in a width direction of the material being rolled. This arrangement significantly improves an edge drop and at the same time minimizes edge drop variations.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a high-strength austenitic stainless bolt having a tensile strength of 1100 MPa or more on an industrial mass-production basis. The method of manufacturing a high-strength stainless steel bolt according to the present invention comprises the steps offorming a lubricant coating on the surface of an austenitic stainless steel wire material to obtain a lubricated wire material; cold forming the lubricated wire material within a degree-of-working range of from 0.5 to 1.5 as defined in a natural logarithmic value of the working distortion such that a head portion is bulged as a result of axial compression of the cold formed wire material and a threaded portion formed of part of the bolt material extruded under said axial compression and radially compressed; and then subjecting said threaded portion to form rolling, said lubricant coating being free from exfoliation and destruction at said degree of working range.
