The saw blade for use in the cutting or grinding apparatus of the present invention is composed of a wheel body for connecting with a shaft of an electric motor having upper and lower wheel portions, and an adhesive sheet layer including a noise and shock absorption material disposed between upper and lower wheel portions of the wheel body, and fabricated by positioning the adhesive sheet for noise and shock absorption between upper and lower wheel portions of the wheel body, and hardening wheel portions and the adhesive sheet therebetween at a predetermined temperature and pressure for given times.

The invention provides a new and improved diamond saw blade for use in cleaning the joints commonly found between concrete sections or slabs. The diamond cutting blade designed in accordance with the present invention provides a thin metal disk with a plurality of abrasive segments secured to the circumferential edge, the blade being adapted for rotation about an axis of rotation. The segments are symmetrically spaced about portions of the periphery of the disk in close end-to-end alignment with one another. A plurality of large elongated openings or gullets are formed in the disk symmetrically spaced in an annular zone located along the periphery of the blade. The gullets occupy at least 30%, and preferably at lest 40% of the outer periphery or circumference of the blade. With this arrangement, the gullets allow the blade to efficiently remove sealant from the joints of concrete.

A method for fabricating elongate structural members from a unitary blank of crystalline material is provided. The blank has a predetermined length, width, and depth. A first substantially planar cut is made in the blank, the cut extending substantially along the entire length of the blank and substantially less than the entire width of the blank. At east one additional cut is made in the blank, the at least one additional cut extending in the same plane as the first cut, to cut the blank into two pieces. The step of making at least one additional cut can include making a plurality of additional cuts, in one embodiment at least three additional cuts. The cuts can be made using a rotary saw with a blade having diamond-coated cutting surfaces. The saw can be operated with the blade rotating at between 50 rpm and 50,000 rpm, preferably at approximately 4,000 rpm. The blank of crystalline material can be provided as a unitary blank of silicon material. The method of the present invention can be practiced using monocrystalline silicon material or polyaystalline silicon material. In an embodiment, the blank can be provided as a generally cylindrical blank. The step of making a first substantially planar cut and the step of making at least one additional cut can be repeated on each of the two pieces to make four pieces from the original cylinder, and subsequently repeated to yield eight pieces from the original cylinder, each of the eight pieces having a substantially wedge-shaped cross-section.

A work cutting apparatus comprises a plurality of cutting blades each including a metal plate phase containing a super hard abrasive grain dispersed entirely thereon. A work made of a rare-earth alloy magnet member is submerged in a coolant in a container. The work submerged in the coolant is cut by rotating the cutting blades at a high speed not slower than 8000 rpm and by moving the cutting blades to the work vertically or along a normal line passing a tangential point between the cutting blade and the work. The coolant may be supplied from a hose to a cutting region at a time of the cutting. At the time of cutting, the work is vibrated in a direction parallel to a main surface of the cutting blade and perpendicular to a direction of the cutting. Preferably, the cutting blade has a tip portion formed with a cutout, and a spacer including two main surfaces each having an outer circumferential portion formed with an annular stepped portion is inserted between the cutting blades.
