    摘要: A plasticizing device for an injection molding machine for plastics comprises a screw housing having a cylindrical plastic material chamber at one end having a discharge opening. A cylindrical screw is rotatably and axially displaceably mounted in the housing and has a screw head portion adjacent the discharge with an intermediate body portion of reduced diameter adjacent the head portion and a uniform diameter portion on the opposite side of the intermediate portion from the head portion. The uniform diameter portion carries a spiral screw thread which projects radially outwardly from the surface of the screw. A seal ring having an outer periphery engaged with the interior of said screw housing and having an interior diameter greater than and spaced radially outwardly from the intermediate portion of the screw defines a plasticizing material passage with the intermediate portion which connects through a passage defined between a seal washer on the screw which cooperates with the seal ring. In addition a plurality of axially extending and circumferentially spaced passages are defined around the periphery of the screw adjacent the seal washer. These passages may be defined on a separate insert or on a plurality of axially arranged inserts and in this latter case the adjacent inserts are rotated relatively to each other so that the passages are not directly communicated but are offset.

    摘要: A means and method for producing plastic netting wherein a hot pneumatic fluid such as nitrogen is used to blow filaments of one circular row of plastic filaments into contact with another circular row of plastic filaments which rows are concentric with each other and being rotated in opposite directions by a respective pair of counter-rotating dies. The hot pneumatic fluid is preferably an inert gas such as nitrogen and serves to anneal the plastic at the weld intersections of the filaments as well as to prevent oxidation during the period when the filaments are quite hot. The means disclosed herein comprises a pair of concentric relatively rotatable dies each having a circular row of plastic extrusion orifices, the dies being adapted to rotate in opposite directions and the rows of orifices being in close proximity to each other and means for projecting hot pneumatic fluid is carried by one of the dies and the hot pneumatic fluid is directed to filaments extruded from a circular row of orifices of the same die which carries the means for projecting the hot pneumatic fluid toward the extruded plastic filaments. Additionally, the individual plastic extrusion orifices are generally aligned axially with individual jet openings through which the hot pneumatic fluid is directed laterally against the filaments of one of said circular rows so that such filaments are blown into weld contact with the plastic filaments extruded from the other circular row of extrusion orifices carried by the other die.

In accordance with the control method disclosed, the position of the ram is sensed by a pulse generator and sensed ram positions are used to provide electric signals which vary in accordance with the sensed positions and flow of hydraulic ram drive fluid is varied in accordance with the electric signals provided to vary the velocity of the ram. The electric signals may be further varied in accordance with one or more of the positions of a metering member in a hydraulic valve supplying ram drive fluid, the pressure of the fluid in the shot cylinder, the velocity of the ram and the pressure in the die cavity. Control of the ram may be directly from a large electrohydraulic servo valve or a pilot electrohydraulic servo valve may be used to control a larger hydraulic valve supplying ram drive fluid.

    摘要: Apparatus for the continuous manufacture of laminated foam articles, comprising a foam dispensing means for applying foam-foaming ingredients to sheet material which is to form one of the facings of the laminate and a conveying means for causing that sheet together with another sheet which is to form the other facing to move parallel to each other while the foam core is formed between them, the conveying means consisting of upper and lower parts one or both of which can move up or down with respect to the other part and exerting a predetermined constant pressure on the components of the laminate. The conveying means is characterized in that each of its movable parts comprises an endless series of slats mounted parallel to one another and transversely to their direction of motion and each independently carried on one or more endless chains by means whereby each slat is yieldingly urged outwardly from the chain or chains into contact with a sheet of facing material. The apparatus is of particular value for the production of laminated articles in which at least one of the facing sheets is pre-formed with lateral flanges, ridges or other convex configurations.
