Abstract:
There is provided a process of producing a ring shaped resin bonded magnetic member by molding a feed mixture 24 which contains a lubricant and a magnetic powder composite made of magnetic powder and a heat curable resin composition which is in a solid state at a room temperature. The process is characterized in that (1) heating an inner peripheral surface of the annular cavity 20 so as to transfer heat to the feed mixture 24 whereby heating the feed mixture to a temperature not lower than a softening temperature and below a curing temperature of the resin composition, and compressing the filled feed mixture after or during the heating; and (ii) cooling the inner peripheral surface so as to transfer heat from the heated and compressed feed mixture through the inner peripheral surface, whereby cooling the feed mixture to a temperature below the softening temperature of the resin composition so as to obtain a green compact having a ring shape.
Abstract:
A floor mat for covering a motor vehicle flooring system having a plurality of fibers is disclosed. The floor mat includes a thermoplastic layer having first and second surfaces and a plurality of projections extending from the second surface. Each of the projections includes an elongated body portion and an enlarged tip for engaging the fibers. A method of making such floor mats is also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for producing close-to-final-shape moldings from pressing compositions, in which reinforcing fibers, fiber bundles, fiber fabrics, fiber mats and/or random fiber agglomerates based on metal, glass, carbon, nitrogen, silicon and/or boron, one or more binders and, if desired, one or more additives or fillers are mixed to give a pressing composition and pressed in a pressing mold under the action of pressure to give a molding, where a curable carbonizable polymer is used as binder. The invention provides for a cold-curing binder to be used and the curing reaction to be initiated by addition of a catalyst, with pressure only being applied after the curing reaction has commenced.
Abstract:
A nonwoven fabric from spun fibers wherein the density of the spun fibers in the fabric varies between strips of relatively high density and strips of relatively low density. The strips extend along the length of the fabric in the machine direction in an alternating pattern, with the high density strips separated from each other by low density strips. The alternating high density and low density strips provide the fabric with a higher percent elongation in the cross direction than in the machine direction. The alternating pattern is achieved through use of a pattern screen defining a plurality of elongated air permeable regions separated by elongated substantially or relatively air impermeable regions, the elongated regions extending in the machine direction in an alternating pattern, with the air permeable regions separated from each other by the substantially or relatively air impermeable regions.

Abstract:
A method of making a golf ball core, including the steps of providing a plurality of centers; providing a top mold plate defining a first plurality of cavities, a bottom mold plate defining a second plurality of cavities corresponding to the first cavities, and a center mold plate disposed between the top and bottom mold plates and comprising a plurality of corresponding protrusions; forming a plurality of shells from a layer material by placing the layer material into the top and bottom mold plate cavities; and molding the layer material around the protrusions of the center plate by applying at least one of heat and pressure to the top and bottom mold plates such that the layer material has a different temperature than the mold plates; opening at least one mold plate from the center plate and placing the centers in the shells; and joining the top and bottom mold plates to join the shells around the centers.
Abstract:
An injection mold apparatus having two halves, a core portion and a cavity portion. One or more gas injection devices, such as porous metal devices, are located in either of the two portions of the mold. Once a charge of hot melted plastic is injected into the mold cavity, gas is injected through gas injection devices forcing the hot plastic against the opposite mold half and into any recesses and grooves. Gas seals are formed by the plastic to prevent gas in the mold cavity from reaching the exterior surface of the molded part during shrinkage of the plastic. The centers of mass of the plastic at rib intersections are optimally positioned to eliminate sink marks on the external finished surfaces of the molded parts.
Abstract:
A compression molding apparatus includes a mold of a first material having a first coefficient of thermal expansion and a plug of a second material having a second coefficient of thermal expansion different from the first coefficient of thermal expansion. The mold has a cavity into which the plug is placed such that the mold and plug are disposed relative to one another providing a gap therebetween having a first volume for holding a body that at least partially fills the gap when the mold and plug are at a first temperature and for molding the body into a molded product when the mold and plug are subjected to a second temperature that causes one of the first and second materials of the mold and plug to change in size more than the other and thereby change the gap to a second volume different from the first volume and compress the body.
Abstract:
A drumhead mold and process for making a plastic drumhead. The mold is structured to heat the drumhead collar area and maintain the battering surface cool to provide a drumhead with improved performance characteristics.
Abstract:
A low compression, resilient golf ball having a center and a cover, wherein at least a portion of the ball is formed from the conversion reaction of an amount of polybutadiene, a free radical source, and a cis-to-trans catalyst including at least one inorganic sulfide at a sufficient temperature to form a polybutadiene reaction product which includes an amount of trans-polybutadiene greater than the amount of trans-polybutadiene present before the conversion reaction and a cis-to-trans catalyst including at least one inorganic sulfide. The reaction product preferably has a first dynamic stiffness measured at −50° C. that is less than about 130 percent of a second dynamic stiffness measured at 0° C. A multi-layer golf ball having a center, at least one intermediate layer disposed concentrically about the center, and a cover, wherein at least a portion of at least one of the center, intermediate layer, or both, are made from the reaction product. Also included are methods of forming such golf balls.
