Abstract:
The invention relates to a rubber tire, and its preparation, composed of carbon black reinforced rubber carcass with an outer, circumferential rubber tread construction of a rubber composition having a relatively high electrical resistivity. The tire tread construction has an electrically conductive filamentary thread stitched through the tread construction and extending between the inner surface of the tread to its outer surface. An electrically conductive path is thereby created through the tire tread.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a pneumatic tire adopting a bias ply structure in which plural carcass layers are disposed so that cords cross each other between the layers, and having an aspect ratio of 55% or less and an outer diameter of 300 mm or less, wherein a cord angle to a tire circumferential direction of said carcass layer is set to a range from 27 to 37° in the center line position, and a surface shape of a tread portion is formed to be straight to a tire width direction in the region of 60 to 75% of a tread width.
Abstract:
An antistatic tire and relative production method, whereby a portion of a tread made of an electrically insulating mix is hollowed out and filled with a cement (C) in the form of a carbon black mix in a volatile liquid; the carbon black mix being left inside the hollow portion when the volatile liquid evaporates, and defining inside the tread at least one conducting body communicating with a rolling surface of the tire.
Abstract:
A tire for a vehicle includes a radial carcass, a tread band disposed radially outward of the carcass, and a belt structure interposed between the carcass and the tread band. The tread band also includes a first portion of a first elastomeric compound having a first modulus of elasticity between about 12 MPa and 16 MPa, measured at 23° C., and a second portion of a second elastomeric compound having a second modulus of elasticity between about 7 MPa and 11 MPa, measured at 23° C. Additionally, a first tread pattern formed on the first portion is different from a second tread pattern formed on the second portion. A related tread band, method for making an asymmetrical tire, and wheel for a vehicle are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire comprising a tread portion which comprises a surface rubber layer which is disposed in an outer portion of the tread portion in the radial direction of said tire and has a specific resistance of 108 &OHgr;·cm or more after curing by vulcanization and conductive rubber members which comprise a rubber composition having a specific resistance of 106 &OHgr;·cm or less and replace a portion of the surface rubber layer, wherein the conductive rubber members are disposed in portions of the surface rubber layer extending from the outer surface to the inner surface in the radial direction of said tire discontinuously in the circumferential direction of said tire at the outer surface of the surface rubber layer in the radial direction of said tire, is provided. The pneumatic tire shows not only an excellent effect of static discharge but also excellent durability.

Abstract:
An apparatus for retreading tires is disclosed. The apparatus has a rotatable hub for the mounting of a buffed tire casing. The apparatus also has a cushion gum applicator that is configured to stretch a length of cushion gum onto a tire casing. Further, the apparatus has a tread dispenser that is configured to automatically dispense a length of tire tread based on the circumference of at least one of the tire casing and the tire casing plus the cushion gum. Further still, the apparatus includes a tread applicator that is configured to stretch the length of tire tread onto the cushion gum. The entire apparatus including the cushion gum applicator, the tread dispenser, and the tread applicator are integrated into a single tire bench machine.
Abstract:
An apparatus for applying tread material onto a tire is provided and applies uncured tread material to the carcass of a tire having a tread surface and a flank. The apparatus includes an extruder for extruding a selected one of a rubber and a synthetic material mixture and a first applicator device orientable toward the tread surface of the carcass. The apparatus also includes a second applicator device disposed adjacent the first applicator device and orientable toward the flank of the carcass. The apparatus further includes an extrusion nozzle extending between the first applicator device and the second applicator device for passage therethrough of the mixture extruded by the extruder.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to A plurality of vehicle tires having tread patterns of substantially the same outer appearance, wherein the tread patterns comprise a primary tread pattern comprising blocks and/or ribs separated by broad cut-outs and a secondary tread pattern on the blocks and/or ribs of the primary tread pattern comprising fine cuts. At least one vehicle tire has fine cuts of low depth and at least one different tire has sections of the fine cuts that have a different depth of fine cuts. The at least one vehicle tire has different driving characteristic from the at least one different vehicle tire. The advantage of the vehicle tires of the present invention is that a performance characteristic of the tire can be chosen by altering the structure of specific sections of the tire, without varying the fundamental opial appearance of the tire.
Abstract:
Vehicular pneumatic tire having an asymmetric tread formed in relation to a circumference of a running surface and process of making vehicular pneumatic tire. The vehicular pneumatic tire includes an outside region that includes an outside shoulder block row and an outside circumferential groove, an inside region that includes an inside shoulder block row and an inside circumferential groove, and a center region that is laterally delimited by the outside circumferential groove and the inside circumferential groove. A plurality of transverse grooves are arranged within the inside shoulder block row, and the plurality of transverse grooves further are arranged to extend into the center region. No more than about one-half of the plurality of transverse grooves are arranged to at least nearly entirely traverse the center region and are oriented to form an angle to a circumferential equator line of no more than approximately 30° over at least one-third of their longitudinal extensions. The process includes forming an outside region to include an outside shoulder block row and an outside circumferential groove, forming an inside region to include an inside shoulder block row and an inside circumferential groove, and laterally delimiting a center region with the outside circumferential groove and the inside circumferential groove. The process further includes arranging a plurality of transverse grooves within the inside shoulder block row and to extend into the center region. No more than one half of the plurality of transverse grooves are arranged to at least nearly entirely traverse the center region and are oriented to form an angle to a circumferential equator line of no more than approximately 30° over at least one-third of their longitudinal extensions.
