Abstract:
A sliding component including a sliding layer, and an intermediate component including at least one undercut portion, the intermediate component coupled to the sliding layer, wherein the intermediate component has a thickness, T, and wherein an exposed thickness, TE, of the intermediate component is less than T. A method of forming a sliding component including providing an intermediate component including at least one undercut portion, the intermediate component having a thickness, T, and coupling a sliding layer to the intermediate component, wherein the intermediate component is partially embedded into the sliding layer, and wherein an exposed thickness, TE, of the intermediate component is less than T.
Abstract:
A raceway bushing which has a substantially cylindrical peripheral wall that forms a bushing inner surface and a bushing outer surface, a bottom wall which extends from the peripheral wall and has an inner bottom surface and an outer bottom surface, and a bottom opening configured in the bottom wall. The bottom opening is bordered by an annular collar that rises axially beyond the inner bottom surface.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a split bearing comprising a semi-cylindrical bearing member having a concave bearing surface extending throughout the length thereof to a parting face at each opposed circumferential end of the bearing member. The bearing surface has formed thereon a sprayed bearing overlay extending over the whole bearing surface except for crush relief regions adjacent to the parting faces. The bearing member has a substantially constant outer diameter and inner diameter except at the crush relief regions, where the inner diameter is larger than at other regions of the bearing surface. There is also disclosed a method of making such a bearing. Less overlay material is required than in conventional split bearings.
Abstract:
In a cold rolling method for producing annular composite workpieces, at least two hollow cylindrical workpieces made of different materials are inserted into one another. The at least two hollow cylindrical workpieces are roll formed by pressing the at least two hollow cylindrical workpieces against each other between two diametrically opposed external roll forming tools and an internal rolling arbor or between two diametrically opposed external roll forming tools and an internal roll forming tool to form a composite workpiece. The composite workpiece is a bearing ring or a gear ring. One of the hollow cylindrical workpieces can be a nonferrous material such as aluminum.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a functional part of synthetic resin material in a bearing plate so as to have good bearing properties. The functional part is formed at a bearing plate by a synthetic-resin injection-molding technique (outsert molding technique) with a bridge portion extending through a hole having hole walls of the bearing plate and with integral retaining portions disposed at both plate surfaces laterally of the hole. The functional part consisting of the bridge portion and the retaining pieces is then changed by a deformation process following the injection-molding operation so that it forms a rotation or slide bearing together with the bearing plate. In the deformation process, the synthetic resin material is pressed away by a mandrel acting on an internal wall of a bore in the bridge portion to cause the synthetic material to flow towards the hole wall of the bearing plate and longitudinally towards the plate surfaces. A load-resistant, partial molecular re-orientation is obtained, which may be rendered heat-resistant after the deformation through fixation and possibly by storing.
Abstract:
This invention is directed toward a fiber reinforced resin matrix composite article having fiber reinforced resin matrix bushings. These bushings are formed by tightly wrapping the fibers to form a plug having the fiber orientation from about .+-.20.degree. to about .+-.60.degree. to the central axis around which the fibers are wrapped. The plug is then snugly inserted into a hole which has been cut in the composite article such that the central axis of the plug is perpendicular to the fibers in the composite article. The entire composite article containing the plug is then cured and the plug is then drilled out forming the bushing.
Abstract:
The method of making a non-metallic bearing assembly by initially molding a flat longitudinally extending sheet of rubber containing a ply or plies of fiberglass reinforced fabric therein, then cutting such sheet into a plurality of strips. The flat strips are then located around the periphery of a mandrel that is then wound with fabric which is impregnated with epoxy resin, then cured and machined to a cylindrical bearing.
Abstract:
The invention pertains to a method for manufacturing a ball joint composed of a ball-ended spindle (1), bearing shell (2) and socket, provided with a sealing boot (4) arranged between the socket and ball-ended spindle (1), in particular for a motor vehicle, by means of extrusion coating, with plastic in a split injection mold (6) the ball-ended spindle (1) provided with a bearing shell (2) placed on the ball (11). In order to create a ball joint which can withstand high stress and limit the assembly work required to complete the same, the housing-side opening bead (41) of the sealing boot (4) is positioned on the bearing shell (2), before loading the ball-ended spindle (1) in the injection mold (6), and is located between the bearing shell (2) and housing (3) by means of an extrusion coating.
Abstract:
A hinged support or the like for the articulated connection of chassis parts in motor vehicles, in which a section connecting bearing eyes at the ends to one another is designed as a hollow section and is assembled from parts which are manufactured as shell-shaped open parts and are connected to one another after manufacture to form a closed hollow section.
