    摘要: A four-wheel vehicle capable of permitting a driver to perform a turning operation with a good operability. One of front and rear pairs of left and right wheels, to which a running torque produced by a driving source is not transmitted, are rotated on respective axes perpendicular to the ground. The one pair of left and right wheels are rotated from straight traveling positions taken when the vehicle is running to angular positions along tangential directions of an arc passing the axes perpendicular to the ground on a neighborhood of a center point of a rotating axle for running the vehicle of the other of front and rear pairs of left and right wheels. As a left or right turn instruction is generated in response to a manipulation, motors are applied with a gradually increasing driving voltage, such that the motors apply rotating torques to the one pair of left and right wheels to turn the vehicle body on the neighborhood of the center point of rotating axles for running the vehicle of the other pairs of left and right wheels.

    摘要: A hydraulic coupling for use in a vehicle drivetrain includes a housing and a pair of rotary members projecting therefrom. The hydraulic coupling also includes a hydraulic circuit defining a low-pressure portion wherein the hydraulic fluid is at a first, lower pressure and a high-pressure portion wherein the hydraulic fluid is in a second, elevated pressure relative to the first pressure. A hydraulic pump is operatively supported within the housing and located within the path of the hydraulic circuit between the low pressure and high-pressure portions. The hydraulic pump is operable to pump hydraulic fluid from the low-pressure portion to the high-pressure portion of the hydraulic circuit. In addition, a clutch is supported within the housing and located within the high-pressure portion of the hydraulic circuit. The clutch is actuable by hydraulic fluid that is pumped by the hydraulic pump at the second, elevated pressure to couple the pair of rotary members together. Furthermore, the hydraulic coupling of the present invention includes a control valve that is operable in response to a signal from a controller to selectively control the actuation of the clutch independent of the fluid pressure in the high-pressure portion of the hydraulic circuit.

    摘要: A hydraulically actuated torque-coupling device is provided for selectively actuating a secondary drive axle of an All-Wheel Drive motor vehicle when wheel slippage occurs with a primary axle. The torque-coupling device comprises a housing, an input shaft and an output shaft both rotatably supported within the housing, a selectively engageable friction clutch assembly for operatively coupling the input shaft to the output shaft, and hydraulic clutch actuator. The hydraulic actuator includes a hydraulic pump located within the housing and adapted to generate a hydraulic pressure to frictionally load the friction clutch assembly, and a variable pressure relief valve assembly fluidly communicating with the hydraulic pump to selectively control the hydraulic pressure generated by the pump. The variable pressure relief valve assembly includes an electro-magnetic actuator for selectively varying a release pressure of the pressure relief valve assembly based on a magnitude of an electric current applied thereto.

    摘要: A multiple plate clutch 11 is provided between a drive shaft 5 continuously extending to front wheels which are main wheels and a driven shaft continuously extending to rear wheels. which are sub-drive wheels for distributing a part of the torque on the front wheels to the rear wheels. A tow-way clutch mechanism in which the drive shaft 5 is connected to a single hydraulic pump 26 via a clutch outer 17 and a sleeve 31 locks when the rotation speed of the drive shaft 5 exceeds the rotation speed of the driven shaft 6 beyond a predetermined rate to thereby drive the hydraulic pump 26 so as to put the vehicle in a four-wheel drive condition, irrespective of the straight-ahead or straight-backward running operation of the vehicle, i.e., irrespective of the rotating direction of the drive shaft 5. Since only a minute torque is applied to the two-way clutch mechanism to drive the hydraulic pump 26, the torque transmission capacity of the two-way clutch 32 can be decreased, whereby the miniaturization and cost reduction of the device can be attempted at being attained.

    摘要: A hydraulic coupling for use in an all wheel drive system, utilized in association with a front wheel drive transaxle, including a multi-plate clutch assembly operably connecting two relatively rotatable members and an actuator assembly for actuating the clutch assembly in response to speed differentiation between the two rotary members. The actuator assembly includes a hydraulic pump, a piston disposed in a piston chamber, and a fluid distribution system including a first flow path for supplying hydraulic fluid from a sump to the hydraulic pump and a second flow path for supplying hydraulic fluid from the hydraulic pump to the piston chamber. Hydraulic pressure in the piston chamber controls the magnitude of the clutch engagement force exerted by the piston on the clutch assembly. A control valve assembly is located in the piston chamber, in close proximity to the clutch pack where a majority of heat is generated.
