A combination of a potassium salt of a perfluoroalkane sulfonate and a sodium salt of toluene sulfonic acid, preferably in the presence of an antidrip agent to provide high melt strength, act synergistically to provide flame-retarded polycarbonate compositions at low levels. Thus, a flame-retarded polycarbonate resin can be made by adding to the polycarbonate resin an effective flame-retardant amount of a potassium salt of a perfluoroalkane sulfonate and a sodium salt of toluene sulfonic acid. The two salts may be formulated in advance into an additive composition.

The carbonate polymer contains a flame retardant additive comprising metal salts of a highly fluorinated methide, amide or imide anion. This composition has excellent mold releasability and thermal stability at the time of molding.

The clearcoat includes a resin, a cross-linking agent reactive with the resin, and a water-soluble surfactant. Upon exposure of the film to the rain, the surfactant reduces the ability of the rain to bead on the film and certain properties, such as resistance to etch from acid rain, are improved.

An adhesive composition having dispersed therein a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent for use in medical applications, such as an adhesive for surgical drapes, wound dressings and tapes. The adhesive is composed of acrylic polymers, tackifiers and a preferred antimicrobial agent, diiodomethyl-p-tolylsulfone. The adhesive composition is essentially solventless and capable of application in a hot melt process while maintaining stability at elevated temperatures in the range of 275null F. to 350null F., which not only allows hot melt application, but allows for ethylene oxide sterilization under heat stress.
