摘要: A failsafe hydrocarbon-based gas (HBG) leak detection (HLD) and mitigation (HLM) system/method for use in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems that incorporates a hydrocarbon gas sensor (HGS), sensor signal conditioner (SSC), alarm status indicator (ASI), and digital control processor (DCP) is disclosed. The HGS detects ambient hydrocarbon gas (AHG) and presents a hydrocarbon sensor voltage (HSV) to the SSC. The DCP and SSC form a closed control loop (CCL) in which the SSC electrical characteristics are adjusted by the DCP such that the HSV is continuously and dynamically recalibrated to account for background HBG levels, changes in ambient air conditions, HGS manufacturing tolerances, and other field-specific operational conditions that impact the HGS detection capabilities. The DCP is configured to log alarms to the ASI if a HGS HBG leak is detected and optionally shutdown gas flow to one or more HBG target (HBT) system components.

摘要: A heating system includes heaters configured to heat a liquid contained in a tank. Each of the heaters includes a heating element, a temperature sensor coupled to the heating element, a control unit in communication with the heating element and the temperature sensor. The control unit is configured to control the heating element and the temperature sensor. The heating system includes a smart probe in communication with the control unit of one of the heaters and configured to monitor operation conditions of the heating system. The heating system includes a display and an indicator coupled to the control unit. The heaters are integrated in a mesh network operatable under Internet-of-Things (IoT) connectivity.

摘要: A connected heating system is provided. The system includes a heater having a first inflow port and a first outflow port, a controller that monitors one or more conditions relating to the heater, and a heater bypass coupled between the first inflow port and the first outflow port. The system also includes a valve that controls flow of water received from a pool into the first inflow port and the heater bypass based on operating state identified by the controller. In operation, responsive to the controller identifying the operating state, the controller is configured to transmit control signals that direct actuation of the valve to achieve the operating state. Additionally, the heater is configured to heat portions of the water from the pool that flow between the first inflow port and the first outflow port when a heating mode is active.

摘要: An automatically flushing water heater maintenance system may be provided, the system including a water heater and a water heater controller. The water heater may include an inlet, an outlet, and a flush outlet having a first control valve in flow communication therewith. The first control valve may be configured to control a flow of water and sediment through the flush outlet out of the water heater. The water heater controller may be configured to communicate with the first control valve by transmitting a first control signal to the first control valve, the first control signal configured to cause the first control valve to open or close as part of an automatic flushing process. As a result of the flushing, the useful life of the water heater may be extended, and/or water heater leakage alleviated. Insurance discounts may be provided based upon using the automatic water heater flushing functionality.

摘要: A water heating system can include a water heater having a tank, and a first temperature sensor disposed toward a top end of the tank to measure a first temperature and a second temperature sensor disposed toward a bottom end of the tank to measure a second temperature. The water heating system can further include a controller communicably coupled to the first temperature sensor and the second temperature sensor, where the controller determines an amount of heated water in the tank based on a plurality of algorithms and measurements made by the first and second temperature sensors. The plurality of algorithms solves for at least one calculated temperature for at least one point between a first location of the first temperature sensor and a second location of the second temperature sensor, where the at least one calculated temperature is used to determine the amount of heated water in the tank.

摘要: A fuel-fired heating appliance comprises a fuel source, an air source, a chamber in which fuel and air mix, a burner downstream from the mixing chamber, an igniter proximate the burner, a heat exchanger, a blower and a flue pipe. An ambient air inlet may be defined by at least one of the outlet end of the blower and the flue pipe extending between the interior of the flue pipe and an area ambient to the flue pipe. A flow rate of combustion gas may be controlled to a level below a steady-state flow rate during appliance warm-up.

摘要: A hot water delivery system includes a water heater, a mixing valve that is coupled to the output of the water heater, and a plurality of loads that are coupled to the output of the mixing valve. A load set point temperature of each load that is representative of a maximum temperature of the hot water that is to be delivered to the respective load is set by a user. Responsive to detecting the occurrence of an event associated with a load of the plurality of loads, a controller of the water heater controls the mixing valve to adjust the temperature of the hot water from the water heater to the load set point temperature associated with the load, provided the load set point temperature of the load is different from a water heater set point temperature at which the water heater maintains the hot water therein.
