An example apparatus disclosed herein includes a gaseous packet generator to generate a gaseous packet adjacent an aircraft. The example apparatus also includes a sensor array disposed on the aircraft to acquire information related to the gaseous packet. The example apparatus further includes a processor to determine at least one of a first characteristic of air flowing along the aircraft or a second characteristic of the aircraft based on the information.

    摘要: A thermo bulb for use with a thermostatic expansion valve, includes a temperature sensing cylinder connected to a power element of a valve unit of the thermostatic expansion valve, a thermal ballast arranged in the temperature sensing cylinder and made by a ceramic sinter which has silica and alumina as its main components, an operating fluid sealed in the temperature sensing cylinder to change from gas to liquid and vice versa response to temperature sensed by the cylinder at an outlet of an evaporator of a refrigeration system, and an arrangement for fixing the thermal ballast into a certain position in the temperature sensing cylinder so as not to prevent the thermal ballast from making contact with an inner surface of the temperature sensing cylinder.

    摘要: A thermometer unit for monitoring the temperature of a fluid cooled electric transformer, the thermometer unit having a ceramic body insertable between the coils of the transformer winding immersed in cooling fluid in the transformer case. A nylon rod responsive to heat changes is confined in the interior of the body and is adapted to expand and contract according to the heat changes to vary volume flow of a gas circulated by a pump in a closed circuit connected with the body. Variations in the gas pressure are indicated on a sight gage externally of the transformer.

    摘要: The present system and method allow for the detection and diagnosis of abrupt changes of a device operating condition using a sensor array disposed in the coolant where the device is located. The purpose of the sensor array is to identify, in real time, abrupt changes quickly and detect the location of the incident. It may be used, for example, for quench detection of superconducting cables and magnets. This system and method are not only limited to use with superconducting conductors such as magnets, power transmission cables, SMES, MRI, motors and generators, but could also be used for any electric devices disposed in liquid or gas. It can also be used for a liquid level meter. Further, this system and method are not limited to low temperature devices, but may also be used in room temperature or elevated higher temperature devices disposed in gas and/or liquid.

    摘要: A device for detecting pressure and/or temperature changes in a fluid-channel and method thereof are disclosed. The device includes a main duct with an inlet and an outlet, a branch ductwork with a first branch end branching off the main duct downwards the inlet and with a second branch end discharging into the main duct upwards the outlet, and at least one dead-end channel with a first end that branches off the branch ductwork and a second closed end. The dead-end channel is adapted to trap a gas bubble within the dead-end channel when the device is primed or filled with a liquid fluid, wherein the gas bubble changes its size or position if a change in pressure or temperature occurs in the device.
