摘要: Techniques are described for operating a display comprising an array of emitters arranged in at least one column. A data shifting circuit stores digital data or an analog representation thereof in a first storage element. The data shifting circuit outputs the digital data or analog representation multiple times to a display driver circuit, using a multiplexer. The first storage element can be a shift register or a capacitor. Digital data can be internally shifted within the data shifting circuit, through multiple shift registers, prior to output to the display driver circuit. An analog representation can be stored and read from the same capacitor without internal shifting. The display driver circuit drives a different emitter of the column each time. A scanning assembly including a reflective surface that receives light from the emitter array forms an output image by rotating the reflective surface in synchronization with driving of the emitters.

摘要: A high sensitivity active pixel for use in MOS image sensor circuits. The pixel circuit design allows the use of digital MOS fabrication processes to be used in implementing a pixel circuit having greater sensitivity (allowing increased frame rate) and greater noise immunity than certain prior art pixels. The novel pixel features a source follower configured amplifier, such as a single MOS FET, coupled between a photodetector and a storage capacitor. A light-generated signal from the photodetector is used to control the charge placed in the storage capacitor in order to develop a capture voltage. In a particular embodiment, an n-channel source follower and a p-channel output stage are combined in the pixel to make the overall transfer function of the pixel more linear and distortion-free. In particular, the pixel transfer function becomes more linear for weak light-generated signals, whereas with conventional pixels, the pixel output signals are often distorted and even suppressed when the light-generated signal is weak. The novel pixel circuit may find particular use in a portable digital image capture system such as a digital camera.

摘要: A memory for carrying information comprises a multilayer film having a plurality of monomolecular layers, in which each layer is capable of carrying a charge. Charges are introduced into one side of the film in a time sequence which corresponds to the information to be carried. A voltage is applied between the faces of the film to cause the charge carried by any layer to be transferred to the adjacent layer. The sequence of charges carried by the film can be read out. The charges are introduced by electrodes adjacent opposite faces of the film which apply across the film voltage pulses of an amplitude greater than that required to cause tunnelling without thermal activation between the layers of the film and at least equal to that required to cause electrons to tunnel without thermal activation from one of the electrodes to the film layer adjacent thereto.

摘要: A thermomagnetic recording method is capable of recording information on a layer of soft magnetic material which has an axis of easy magnetization normal to the surface of the layer and in which magnetic bubble domains are generated by application of a bias magnetic field. Information is recorded by radiating the layer with pulses of a focused beam so as to form a magnetic bubble domain having a magnetization opposite to a direction of the bias magnetic field. Recorded information is stable but can be easily erased.

摘要: Techniques are described for collecting feedback on a display comprising a plurality of emitters arranged in a column. Each emitter is driven by a respective emitter cell that generates a driving current for the emitter based on digital data or an analog representation thereof. The digital data or analog representation is sequentially shifted through the entire column. An electrical signal associated with a last emitter to be driven based on the digital data or analog representation is measured, along a feedback path formed by selectively opening or closing a first switch and a second switch, which are respectively connectable to an anode and a cathode of the last emitter. Since each emitter cell contributes to the electrical signal, the value of the electrical signal is indicative of whether there is a problem with an emitter cell somewhere in the column. The subsequently driving of the emitters is adjusted accordingly.

摘要: An optical information storage apparatus includes an optical switch element and an optical fiber. The optical switch element receives an optical input and outputs an optical output only when the optical input is equal to or greater than a predetermined value. The optical fiber constitutes a first optical path. The optical fiber has at least one end face and receives an optical output emitted from the optical switch element through the at least one end face, guides the optical output, and emits an output beam, constituting the optical input, onto the optical switch element.

摘要: A fiber optic recirculating memory is disclosed which utilizes a single splice-free single mode optical fiber coupled to itself to form a loop which acts as a delay line. A single signal supplied as an input to the device will result in a series of output signals identical to the input signal, although at smaller, decreasing amplitudes. In addition to being useful as a recirculating memory device for use in a system where data is generated at a rate faster than it can be accepted by a data processor, the invention may be used as a tap filter to pass a selected fundamental frequency and its harmonics, and to attenuate all other frequencies.
