    摘要: There is provided an anode for a magnetron, the anode comprising: a cylindrical shell defining a longitudinal axis, a centre of the shell for accommodating a cathode of the magnetron; a plurality of vanes arranged at angular intervals around the shell, wherein an angular separation between each vane and its adjacent vane is configured to provide a cavity resonator of the magnetron, wherein each vane has a width extending radially inwardly from the shell toward the centre of the shell, and has a length extending longitudinally in parallel with the longitudinal axis of the shell; and a plurality of annular strap rings for setting a resonant mode spectrum of the cavity resonator, wherein the strap rings are arranged at longitudinal intervals and concentrically with the longitudinal axis of the shell, wherein alternate vanes are configured to support the alternate strap rings, such that each vane couples alternate strap rings and each strap ring couples alternate vanes, wherein a cross-sectional dimension of at least a first strap ring of the plurality of strap rings is different from the cross-sectional dimension of at least a second strap ring of the plurality of strap rings.

    摘要: The invention relates to a microwave tube comprising an electron gun generating an electron beam in a cylindrical microwave structure of the tube. The microwave structure delivers a microwave at one output. A collector for collecting electrons from the beam comprising at least one electrode that is mechanically coupled to the microwave structure via a dielectric, the mechanical coupling forming a radial waveguide for propagating spurious microwave radiation (Pr) from the tube. In order to attenuate the spurious radiation from the tube, the radial waveguide (Wg) includes at least one quarter-wave microwave trap having, at least at the operating frequency F of the tube, an open circuit for the microwave propagating in said radial waveguide for propagating spurious radiation.

    摘要: The invention relates to vacuum tubes and especially to electron tubes. To produce the tube, and especially an electron collector comprising several electrodes, the electrodes are produced in the form of blocks of ceramic having a high thermal conductivity. The blocks are electrically conducting (at least on the surface). They are preferably made of an insulating ceramic such as aluminium nitride, and are made conductive over part of their surface. The conductive surface part is preferably formed by a conductive ceramic, preferably based on titanium nitride, or on similar conductive ceramic materials. Thus, increased strength, better heat dissipation and weight reduction are achieved.

    摘要: A low-loss magnetic structure that provides an electron beam focusing field that can be accessed without field reversal. More specifically, the structure provides a uniform magnetic field that can be accessed from an adjacent field-free chamber within which an electron beam source of any size can be housed. The field-free chamber is separated from uniform field by a passive ferromagnet having a hole through which the electron beam can pass. The passive ferromagnet is instrumental in preventing the uniform field from entering the field-free chamber.

    摘要: An electron collector is provided for collecting spent electrons generated by a charged particle device after passage though an interaction region of a RF circuit. The collector has a centerline and comprises an outer structure which is coupled to the RF circuit. An inner structure is within the outer structure, and receives the spent electrons. A negative voltage is applied to the inner structure, which forms an electric field between the inner and outer structures. A plurality of thermally conductive and electrically insulative standoff assemblies extend between the outer and inner structures. Each of the assemblies comprise a ceramic planar member centered within outer walls providing a double-ended cup shape, and conductive plugs which adjoin each side of the planar member with the respective one of the inner and outer structures. An axis of symmetry of the assemblies lies perpendicular to a radial vector extending from the centerline, and lies parallel to the electric field vector. Since the conductive plugs are partially surrounded by the outer walls, a relatively long surface voltage breakdown path is provided between the plugs, while the thermal path through the planar member is relatively short.

    摘要: An efficient high power beam tube includes a gridded convergent flow electron gun for forming and projecting a beam of electrons through a centrally apertured accelerating anode to a fly-trap type depressed beam collector structure. A tapered conductive probe is axially disposed within the beam collector for cooperation with a collector focus electrode structure to shape the equipotentials at the mouth of the fly-trap beam collector, in the presence of space charge depression within the collector, such as to retain laminar electron flow and uniform current density transversely across the beam as the beam decelerates and expands into the beam collector structure, whereby increased depressed collector efficiency is obtained.

    摘要: A charged particle collector comprising a stack of apertured electrode plates which lie within an imaginary sphere is provided. The plate closet to a charged particle emitter forms a portion of the imaginary sphere and is at zero volts potential with respect to the emitter. The plate farthest away from the charged particle emitter is of conical shape with the apex pointing toward the emitter and includes a spike extending toward the emitter. The conical plate has either a negative or positive potential with respect to the emitter, depending on whether the charged particles are negative or positive. A plurality of intermediate apertured electrode plates are positioned between the plate which forms a portion of the sphere and the conical plate, each of the plates being at a slightly lower potential than the preceding plate moving in a direction toward the emitter. These intermediate plates approximate the shape of an equipotential line which would be plotted for the particular voltage applied to the plate.
