Abstract: Embodiments in accordance with the present invention encompass compositions comprising a organopalladium compound, a photoacid generator, a photosensitizer and one or more olefinic monomers which undergo vinyl addition polymerization when said composition is exposed to a suitable actinic radiation to form a substantially transparent film. The monomers employed therein have a range of optical and mechanical properties, and thus these compositions can be tailored to form films having various opto-electronic properties. Accordingly, compositions of this invention are useful in various applications, including as coatings, encapsulants, fillers, leveling agents, among others.

Abstract: A monomer capable forming a polymer through ring-opening metathesis polymerization and capable of depolymerization thereafter through ring-closing metathesis, wherein the monomer comprises a cycloalkene having a fused ring attached thereto to form a cycloalkene-fused ring monomer, wherein the fused ring decreases the ring strain energy of the cycloalkene to a lower ring strain energy state of 5.3 kcal/mol or lower as compared to the same cycloalkene without the fused ring having a ring strain energy above 5.3 kcal/mol and wherein the cycloalkene-fused ring monomer is capable of isomerization into a higher ring strain energy state before polymerization and method of synthesizing the monomer. The monomer is further capable of forming chemically recyclable to monomers block copolymers.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a norbornene-based crosslinked polymer containing at least one member selected from the group consisting of dicyclopentadiene-based monomer units, tetracyclododecene-based monomer units, and tricyclopentadiene-based monomer units in an amount of 50% by mass or more, wherein the norbornene-based crosslinked polymer has a glass transition temperature of 240° C. or higher. Further, the present invention relates to a method for producing a norbornene-based crosslinked polymer as defined above, including step (1): heating a blend containing at least one member of the above monomer components, and a metathesis polymerization catalyst to a temperature lower than a deactivation temperature of the metathesis polymerization catalyst to carry out a primary curing; and step (2): heating a cured product obtained in the step (1) to a temperature equal to or higher than the deactivation temperature of the above metathesis polymerization catalyst to carry out a secondary curing.

Abstract: A cleaning composition for a semiconductor substrate contains a solvent, and a polymer that includes a fluorine atom, a silicon atom or a combination thereof. The content of water in the solvent is preferably no greater than 20% by mass. The cleaning composition preferably further contains an organic acid which is a non-polymeric acid. The organic acid is preferably a polyhydric carboxylic acid. The acid dissociation constant of the polymer is preferably less than that of the organic acid. The solubility of the organic acid in water at 25° C. is preferably no less than 5% by mass. The organic acid is preferably a solid at 25° C.

Abstract: Embodiments for a crosslinked alkoxysilyl polynorbornene homopolymer and methods of making crosslinked alkoxysilyl polynorbornene homopolymer are provided, where the method comprises polymerizing through addition polymerization or ring opening metathesis polymerization a norbornene monomer comprising an alkoxysilyl moiety in the presence of a catalyst to produce an alkoxysilyl modified polynorbornene homopolymer, and producing a crosslinked alkoxysilyl polynorbornene homopolymer through sol-gel initiated crosslinking of the alkoxysilyl modified polynorbornene homopolymer at ambient conditions, or acid-catalyzed conditions.

Abstract: A polymerizable composition comprised of a mixture of a norbornene-based monomer and a metathesis polymerization catalyst which is solidified by cooling is provided. Preferably, the norbornene-based monomer has a freezing point of 20° C. or more, more preferably the metathesis polymerization catalyst is a ruthenium-carbene complex.
