    摘要: A fuel supply system and fuel filter for a vehicle prevent bleed down of the fuel filter and minimizes the amount of any air or vapor delivered to the fuel supply line. The fuel filter includes a housing enclosing a filter media. The filter includes an inlet for receiving fuel from the fuel pump. The filter also includes first and second outlets. The first outlet supplies filtered fuel to the fuel supply line. The second outlet supplies filtered fuel to the jet pump. In this way, by providing a single outlet from the fuel pump to the fuel filter, and providing two outlets from the fuel filter which separately leads to the fuel supply line and the jet pump, bleed down is prevented and vapors within the fuel supply line are reduced.

    摘要: A carburettor metering system comprises a fuel evaporator 113 consisting of porous parallel plates 114 with their lower portions immersed in fuel 121, fuel metering means 122 for supplying fuel to the evaporator 113, and a laminar flow air restrictor 128 comprising a series of parallel plates 127 separated by spacers and defining narrow gaps between the plates 127. Such an arrangement enables a substantially constant air/fuel mixture strength to be obtained over a wide range of air flow rates in single cylinder engines. Furthermore the supply of mixture to the engine by way of an exit tube 126 may be controlled by a valve member 132 coupled to the engine governor so that the rate of flow of mixture varies in dependence on the load, and additionally so as to change the system between two modes of carburettor operation, namely lean operation, which is provided up to about three quarters load, and rich operation in which additional fuel is supplied to the evaporator 113.

    摘要: A fuel processing unit replacing the usual carburetor provides passage means maintained at sub-atmospheric pressure through which an airstream flows from an air-intake port of the unit to intake manifold of the engine. A heating coil wound helically to a cylindrical configuration is embraced by a cylindrical fine mesh wire screen which is heated by the heating coil and is continuously sprayed from the outside with volatile liquid fuel. The airstream that flows through the passage means flows radially inwardly through the cylindrical screen and through the closely spaced turns of the helical heating coil to produce a completely dry gaseous stream of air and fuel vapor which is then subjected to turbulence to result in a uniform mixture. When the engine is started while cold a thermostatic valve feeds liquid fuel into the air-vapor stream, and when a throttle valve is opened to accelerate the engine, additional air is fed into the turbulent zone of the fuel mixture stream.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for efficiently atomizing fuel for supplemental supply to an internal combustion engine are described wherein the atomized fuel is supplied to the engine in addition to the conventionally carburetted fuel. A portion of the fuel being supplied to a carburetor in a conventional manner is diverted to the system according to the invention and is supplied thereto in a metered fashion. A fuel vapor is produced and is supplied to the engine downstream of the carburetor, as required by the engine; this requirement being indicated by engine vacuum. Vaporization is accomplished in the described embodiment by heat and ultrasonic nebulization.
