The invention is directed to novel wheels useful for various products including strollers, vehicles for children, carts, luggage trollies and bags, tricycles, bicycles and toys, and methods of production. The novel wheel comprising a flexible annular segment manufactured by a blow molding process, said segment having at least one layer made of a thermoplastic elastomer; and a wheel hub configured to support the flexible annular segment from each of its sides and to create a cylinder for insertion of an axle therethrough so as to allow connection of the wheel to other components of a product. In one alternative implementation of the invention, the flexible annular segment manufactured is manufactured by extrusion molding process. The invention is further directed to methods for manufacturing the novel wheel.

A method for forming a vehicle glass encapsulation, a vehicle window and a mold are provided. The method includes: forming a polymer solution containing bubble nuclei, the bubble nuclei being formed by a foaming agent; and performing an injection molding process by injecting the polymer solution containing the bubble nuclei into a mold in a way where the bubble nuclei is restrained from growing on at least a part of an inner wall of a cavity of the mold, to form the vehicle glass encapsulation. The formed vehicle glass encapsulation may have no chromatic aberration and raised grain.

A hinged component includes first and second portions of material coupled together by a composite live hinge. The live hinge includes a layer of tensile fabric and a layer of elastomer interposed between the tensile fabric and the material of one or both of the coupled first and second portions. The composite live hinge is capable of joining structural composite materials without the need for scoring, and thereby weakening, the structural composite material along the desired hinge line. The live hinge can be embedded in the materials it joins in a method that is compatible with traditional structural composite layup processes and in a manner which prevents resin from the structural composite materials from infiltrating the tensile fabric and compromising its flexibility.

A method for making a low density foamed article includes placing a desired amount of thermoplastic polyurethane foam beads in a cavity of an injection mold (28) and closing the mold; combining in an extruder (12) connected to the mold a molten polymer selected from the group consisting of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers and thermoplastic ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers with both a physical or chemical blowing agent other than a supercritical fluid present in an amount up to about 15 wt% based on molten polymer weight and a supercritical fluid that is at least one of about 0.1 to about 5 weight percent of supercritical CO 2 based on molten polymer weight or about 0.1 to about 4 weight percent of supercritical N 2 based on molten polymer weight, to form a mixture and injecting the mixture into the mold and foaming the mixture to form the low density foamed article.
