Abstract:
A cost function is stochastically optimized using, e.g., simulated annealing to render a neighborhood of entities based on which content recommendations can be provided to a user of a home entertainment system (14). The cost function represents a normalized sum of rating similarity scores from entities (15) of the neighborhood that are related to content items viewed by the user.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are presented for insertion of assets into a stream of content (e.g., audio and/or video programming). Such assets may be targeted to network users separate from the surrounding content and deliveries thereof confirmed. Among other things, these systems and methods enable a new advertising paradigm based on guaranteed delivery of targeted commercial impressions. In this regard, the systems and methods generally provide assets with broadcast network programming (e.g., via actual insertion and/or switching to an asset channel) based on actual audience observations. For example, asset providers may wish to target assets for delivery according to specific audience classifications (e.g., gender, income level, locale, age, etc.). Programming providers, such as television programmers and radio programmers (e.g., standard tower broadcast radio and satellite radio), may receive information from broadcast network users and insert the assets into available bandwidth based on that information.
Abstract:
A feedback system for controlling play of media content is disclosed. The feedback system for controlling play of media content includes a hub that is at least partially remote from a media content play point, for accessing and instructing a forwarding of the media content for play, at least one output associated with the hub that contributes non-play content, wherein parsed non-play content enables the hub to instruct a preemption of a first of the media play content with an insertion of a second of the media play content to the media content play point, a first input to the hub that monitors, after a first play of the media content at the media content play point, for availability of at least one second play of the media content, a second input to the hub that effectuates the non-play content to the at least one output based on feedback from a first play of the media content.
Abstract:
Automated media programming (AMP) systems and methods are provided. The systems and methods allow independent users to summit, edit, rate, and watch video content (preferably, although not necessarily, from other users) over a broadcast media channel or network. In one embodiment, among others, the AMP system a topic generator means for determining one or more topics that will be used for identifying one or more videos to be broadcast; an upload means for receiving uploads of one or more user videos relating to the determined topics; a prescreening means for allowing users to view the uploaded user videos; a rating means for rating the uploaded user videos, their respective producers, or both; a pre-production means for scheduling the uploaded videos for transmission based upon the ratings; and a broadcast means for enabling broadcast of the videos, hi preferred embodiments, the AMP system is controlled by independent users, and the settings, procedures for operation, and procedures for evaluations of the AMP system are user controllable.
Abstract:
A media system configured to select personalized programming for individual users is disclosed. The programming may include content, advertisements, and/or interactive queries, each of which may be selected based on profiles of the users.
Abstract:
A system and method is provided for event data collection and processing in a multimedia network. The server can include an event collection manager that receives messages containing event data from plural settop devices. Upon message receipt, the event collection manager accesses a database to identify a data aggregation group for the set top that sent the message and anonymously stores the event data in association with the data aggregation group. The data aggregation group can be associated with a policy that specifies anonymous storage of event data based on event type. For example, the data aggregation policy may specify storage, of individual event types with personal identification information. Conversely, the aggregation policy may specify anonymous storage of individual event types anonymously excluding personal identification information. Aggregate reports can be generated from the stored event data by aggregation group.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a system for managing broadcasting of media content. The system includes at least one database at a hub, wherein at least one digital file associated with the media content is relationally present in the at least one database, and a computer software accessible at a local media play point remote from the hub that provides a graphical user interface for at least scheduling, editing, and distributing of a plurality of ones of the at least one digital file for broadcasting, where the interface includes at least a header reader that allows for graphical display of header information, wherein the header information includes at least a graphic, indicative of length of play and a plurality of alerts occurring within the length of play. Also included is at least one computerized device at the local media play point for accessing and playing the at least one digital file.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a system for determining user data, particularly user preferences or evaluations. The system comprises a multitude of mobile end apparatuses (1) which may be integrated in a portable apparatus such as a mobile phone or a watch (7) and are carried or worn by members of a group. The mobile end apparatuses (1) can establish a wireless communication with a central unit (2) and particularly transmit user data stored in a memory (4) or current user data detected via sensors (5). When using the system, for example, in a discotheque, the visitors favorite musical genres as well as an evaluation of the current program can be determined and taken into account. Via corresponding sensors (5), implicit evaluation criteria such as, for example, the movements of a user can be detected.
Abstract:
Streamed content is specifically directed to a target or listening device (110) having a unique registered identifier (301a) associated with a stored profile (302). This unique stored connection profile (302), combined with the streaming process, sends a customized stream (201) based on the stored profile information and, depending on the triggers within the stream (201) designed to localize or regionalize the stream content, enables interaction with the listening device (110) to deliver individualized stream elements (209), regional or group stream elements (206), and general (global) stream elements (205) and/or other content conformed based on the stored profile information.
