Novel poly-branched, mono- or poly-unsaturated functional materials are provided. More specifically, certain novel unsaturated branched functional compositions are provided that are made via isoprenoids and/or isoprenoid derivatives which come from either natural or synthetic sources. Also disclosed is their use or modification for use in consumer products such as laundry products, personal care products, dishcare products, shampoo products and hard surface cleaning products, and the like comprising the functional compositions or modified compositions.

The present invention relates to the use as perfuming ingredient, in particular to confer odor notes of the violet, violet leaves type, of a compound of formula (I), wherein n represents 1 or 2, A represents CH 2 or CO; and R represents a C 1-4 alkyl or alkenyl group or a C 3 cycloalkyl group, or when A is a CH 2 group R may also represent a C 1-3 acyl group. Moreover, following what is mentioned herein, the present invention comprises the invention's compound as part of a perfuming composition or of a perfuming consumer product.

This disclosure is related to halonium compounds useful for cyclization of polyenes, alkenoic acids, and alkenyl alkyl ethers, and halogenation of aromatic compounds. The synthesis of such halonium compounds, compounds made using such halonium compounds, and synthesis of natural compounds, including decalins, using the halonium compounds is also disclosed.
