An adhesive packaging system, such as a tape or a string, and laminating methods are disclosed. The system comprises a core structure and an adhesive layer coated at least on one surface defined by the core structure. The adhesive layer comprises at least two different heat-activated adhesive materials in alternative sequences over the surface of the core structure, the heat-activated adhesive materials being activated at different temperatures. As the tapes are processed in the laminating machines, some of the adhesives will be heat activated with enough operating range that the tapes will have the proper adhesion to the substrate in any operating conditions, and some of the adhesives will set at the exit of the laminating machines also at any operating conditions of the laminating machines. Hence the tapes will have a much larger operating envelope under a very large range of operating conditions in the laminating machines.

The manufacturing of articles relies on the bonding of two or more components to form some forms of the articles, such as a shoe sole bonded with a shoe upper. The bonding may be achieved with an adhesive particulate that is applied to a surface of a substrate. The adhesive particulate is selectively fused to the substrate with a controlled energy source, such as a laser. The selective application of laser energy allows for specific geometric structures of adhesive particulate to be formed on the substrate. The substrate having the fused adhesive particulate is mated with another component allowing the fused adhesive particulate to bond the first substrate and the second component.

An adhesive composition that improves structural integrity and insulative properties when applied to a cellulosic substrate is provided. The adhesive composition includes a plurality of microspheres and an emulsion-based polymer that has (i) an elastic modulus greater than 0.5MPa in the range temperature range of 70°C to 110°C; (ii) an absolute log(E)/T slope of less than 0.05 in the range temperature range of 70°C to 110°C; and (iii) a tan d value less than 0.6 at 90°C.

A hot melt assist waterborne adhesive having high amplitude bead profile and higher heat resistance is provided. The hot melt assist waterborne adhesive includes an emulsion polymer, a preservative, a plurality of pre-expanded hollow microspheres and water. The hot melt assist waterborne adhesive is suitable as a partial or complete replacement to hot melt adhesives for use in converting paper and packaging process.

The present invention provides for curable compositions composed of one or more cyanoacrylate monomers, and one or more (co)polymers. The compositions of the present invention may exhibit pressure sensitive adhesion properties at 23 °C. Subsequent cure of the compositions can be initiated as appropriate. For example, an external stimulus such as heat or radiation (e.g. UV cure) may be applied to induce cure of the composition when desired to do so.
