Abstract:
The present invention pertains to a method for manufacturing a laminated textile product comprising providing a first intermediate product comprising a primary backing having a front surface and a back surface, and yarns stitched into the primary backing, the yarns extending from the front surface of the backing material, feeding the intermediate product along a body having a heated surface, the back surface being pressed against the said heated surface, to at least partly melt the yarns present in the intermediate product to bond the yarns to the backing, wherein the part of the back surface that is pressed against the heated surface has a relative speed with respect to the heated surface, so as to provide a second intermediate product having a calendered back surface, providing a dimensionally stable carrier sheet or secondary backing, and connecting the second intermediate product to the carrier sheet by providing a hot melt adhesive between the calendered surface and the sheet, and pressing the sheet to the second intermediate product to form the textile product.
Abstract:
Carpet products having antimicrobial properties and methods of manufacturing the same are provided, The carpet product includes a face fabric having a top surface and a base, and a pre-treated stabilising material attached to the base of the face fabric. The pre-treated stabilizing material may have an antimicrobial compound coated thereon to or physically incorporated.
Abstract:
A method for binding a greige carpet and a secondary backing material using a hot melt adhesive is disclosed. A heated application roll may be provided and the secondary backing material may be contacted with the hot melt adhesive and greige carpet and pressed against the heated application roll.
Abstract:
Described are methods of making a carpet by (a) providing a primary backing material having a front side and a back side, (b) tufting a yarn into the primary backing material to produce a carpet pile on the front side of the primary backing material and loops of the yarn on the back side of the primary backing material, (c) applying by slot coating a layer of a first melted coating composition onto the back side of the tufted primary backing material, (d) applying by slot coating a layer of a second melted coating composition onto the coating applied in step (c) thereby fixing the loops of the yarn to the primary backing material, and (e) applying and pressing a secondary backing onto the slot coated tackifying resin layers and pressing it to join the first and second tackifying resins and the primary backing and secondary backing and yarn loops together to form a carpet.
Abstract:
A textile article such as a floor covering or carpet is disclosed. In one embodiment, a floor covering is provided with a composition applied to the surface of the floor covering. The composition resists staining and dry soiling, and provides liquid repellency and stain release properties. The composition may employ a repellent component, a stain resist component, a stain release, and a particulate component. The composition may be applied to fibrous-containing textiles, such as carpeting. A method of applying the composition to a textile is disclosed. The repellent component may employ a fluorochemical, such as a fluorocarbon. The repellent may be acrylic-based or urethane-based, as two representative examples. The composition is adapted for imparting to a textile a chemical finish that will resist moisture, release stains, and resist dry soiling.
Abstract:
Flooring that utilizes sophisticated, self-stabilizing, woven face fabric using relatively heavy "carpet weight" nylon, polyester, PTT or other yarns on modern Jacquard computer controlled looms to produce flat-weave fabrics that are bonded to engineered backing structures. Urethane modified bitumen may be used as a backing layer, and an optional latex precoat may be used on the fabric layer, together with an optional antimicrobial in the precoat.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a fabric (10) for reinforcement of canvasses. The fabric comprises a warp (12) and a weft (14). At least one of the warp or the weft is formed by a strip comprising at least one elongated metal member (18) and a thermoplastic material (22) as matrix. A primer layer (20) is applied on the metal member before the application of the thermoplastic material to obtain a good adhesion between the thermoplastic material and the metal member.
Abstract:
A textile coating composition which has a fast drying rate is disclosed. The coating composition comprises an aryl vinyl monomer, an aliphatic conjugated diene monomer, and an acrylamide-based monomer. The coating composition exhibits a Complete Drying Temperature of less than about 140 DEG C.
Abstract:
In a first aspect the invention is a solid core fibrillation-resistant, synthetic polymeric filament having three substantially equal length convex sides. The sides through substantially rounded tips centered by a distance “a” from the axis of the filament. Each rounded tip has a radius substantially equal to a length “b”. Each tip lies on a circumscribed circle having a radius substantially equal to a length (a + b) and the midpoint of each side lies on an inscribed circle having a radius substantially equal to a length “c”. The filament has a denier-per-filament in the range 10
Abstract:
There is provided a modular area rug (52) having a plurality of individual floor covering elements (32, 34) positioned in an aesthetically pleasing tiled configuration. The modular area rug (52) may include a plurality of similar repeating sub-units, each of which may comprise multiple floor covering elements (32, 34). The modular area rug (52) is free-standing, requiring no contact with a wall to maintain its monolithic nature. Further, the individual floor covering elements (32, 34) may be easily repositioned to satisfy user needs or whims. Each floor covering element (32, 34) has a textile upper surface and a skid-resistant backing of either a sheet material or a fabric-elastomer composite.
