Upon the setting of a gearshift position SP to a drivable gear position, for example, a drive position for general forward drive or a braking position for applying brake on downslope, when an engine rotation speed Ne decreases to or below a preset fuel injection-start reference rotation speed Nref1, a driving apparatus of the invention allows preliminary fuel injection before a stop of an engine into a specific cylinder that stops in a preset fuel injection stop range over an intake stroke to a compression stroke on the stop of the engine (steps S140 and S150). Upon the setting of the gearshift position SP to a non-drivable gear position, for example, a parking position for parking lock or a neutral position for keeping the gear neutral, on the other hand, the driving apparatus of the invention prohibits the preliminary fuel injection into the specific cylinder that stops in the fuel injection stop range on the stop of the engine (steps S140 and S190). This arrangement ensures a quick restart of the engine and effectively avoids potential troubles caused by non-combustion of the preliminarily injected fuel under a stop of the engine over a relatively long time.

An exhaust valve early-closure control brings about blowback of exhaust gas into an intake system (S106). However, if the exhaust valve early-closure control is executed, for example, during a first idle operation immediately following the startup of the engine, or the like, the amount of blowback exhaust gas becomes excessively large. Therefore, when the post-startup increase amount has decreased to or below a lower-limit criterion value, the ECU 50 prohibits the exhaust valve early-closure control, and changes the control to a usual valve timing control (S108). As a result, during a period during which the combustion state has a stability margin and the amount of emission of HCs and the like is large, the exhaust emission quality can be bettered by the exhaust valve early-closure control. Besides, when the post-startup increase amount has decreased, the combustion state can be stabilized by prohibiting the exhaust valve early-closure control.

The invention also relates to a computer program for improving drivability of a motor vehicle having a droop function, comprising computer readable program code means for causing an electronic control unit or another computer connected to the electronic control unit to perform the step of deactivating said droop function in at least one predetermined first vehicle condition.

The invention concerns a method for regenerating an exhaust gas purification unit (13) arranged in an internal combustion engine system (1). The invention is characterized "in that the method comprises the step of setting a predefined minimum engine speed such that the exhaust gas mass flow exceeds a predefined flow value during the regeneration process. The invention also concerns an internal combustion engine system (1 ) comprising an exhaust gas purification unit (13) adapted to be operated according to said method.

The present invention relates to a system for starting an automatic car in safety and a method thereof, which prevent the occurrence of a sudden start accident in advance. The system comprises: an engine speed detecting unit 10 detecting the current speed of an engine; a foot brake input detecting unit 20 detecting whether a foot brake is operative; a gear position detecting unit 30 detecting whether a gear shift lever is in the neutral (N) position; a vehicle speed sensing unit 40 being operated parallel with the foot brake input detecting unit and sensing the speed of a vehicle; a control unit 100 making the engine not started when the foot brake is not operative and the gear shift velvet is not in the neutral position in the step of starting the engine and making the gear shift lever not shifted in the neutral position until the engine speed is lowered to less than a reference value after the engine is started as the above condition is satisfied; a starting device 60 starting the engine under the control of the control unit; and vacuum apparatus 70 being operated under the control of the control unit 100 for sucking air in a Hydro-vac and turning the Hydro-vac into a vacuum state. In the step of starting the engine, when a stable braking is disabled because the gear shift lever is not in the neutral position and the foot brake is not operative, the engine is not allowed to be started. After the engine is started as the above-condition is satisfied, the gear shift lever is not allowed to be shifted from the neutral position until the engine speed is lowered to less than a reference value, thereby preventing a sudden start.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Betriebsverfahren für eine Kraftfahrzeug-Brennkraftmaschine (1) mit einem Abgasstrang (3) zur Ableitung von von der Brennkraftmaschine (1) abgegebenem Abgas. In dem Betriebsverfahren wird die Brennkraftmaschine (1) so betrieben, dass eine Temperatur des von der Brennkraftmaschine (1) abgegebenen Abgases einen Temperatur-Schwellenwert überschreitet, der ausreichend hoch ist, um eine Regeneration eines im Abgasstrang (3) der Brennkraftmaschine (1) angeordneten Partikelfilters (13) durchführen zu können. Erfindungsgemäß wird dabei wenigstens zeitweise eine Unterbrechung einer Kraftflussverbindung von der Brennkraftmaschine (1) zu Antriebsrädern (11, 11') des Kraftfahrzeugs bei einem Fahrbetrieb des Kraftfahrzeugs vorgenommen.
