본 발명은 술폰화된 방향족 단량체의 개선된 정제방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 술폰화된 방향족 단량체의 정제방법은 종래의 술폰화된 방향족 단량체의 반응조건을 유지하되, 염석출공정 및 재결정공정을 간소화하고, 정제시 사용되는 화학물질을 구입이 용이하고 안정한 물질로 대체하여 고순도의 술폰화된 방향족 단량체를 수득할 수 있는 경제적인 방법이며, 상기 정제방법으로 수득된 술폰화된 방향족 단량체는 고분자전해질 막용 중합체 제조에 유용하게 활용될 수 있으며, 상기 단량체를 이용하여 중합체를 합성할 경우, 고분자량 확보에 유리하다.
