    摘要: Disclosed is a process for the preparation of alkanoate esters of hydroxybenzenesulfonic acids and salts thereof by the steps of (1) contacting or reacting phenol with an alkanoic acid in the presence of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) and trifluoroacetic anhydride (TFAA) to produce an aryl alkanaoate ester and (2) contacting the reaction mixture of step (1) with a sulfonating agent to convert the aryl alkanoate ester to an alkanaoate ester of hydroxybenzenesulfonic acid. The process provides the economic advantage inherent in using the product of esterification of step (1) without isolation in the sulfonation of step (2).

    摘要: This invention addresses methods and compositions for providing alkyl diphenyl oxide sulfonic acid blends at useful viscosities for use in surfactants such as DOWFAX - containing surfactants. The low viscosity alkyl diphenyl oxide sulfonic acid blend is made by admixing a fatty acid having a carboxylic chain length between 1 and 12 (for example, formic acid, acetic acid, propionic acid, butanoic acid, pentanoic acid, valeric acid, hexanoic acid, heptanoic acid, octanoic acid, nonanoic acid, decanoic acid, undecanoic acid, or dodecanoic acid into an alkyl diphenyl oxide sulfonic acid reaction product to provide between 5 weight percentage and 50 weight percentage of fatty acid in the admixture.

The metallic salt can be a multivalent metal derivative of an aromatic carboxylic, sulfocarboxylic, sulfophenolic, or combination thereof. The aromatic moiety can be a simple aromatic, a condensed aromatic, a heterocyclic aromatic or a combination thereof. The multivalent metal ion can be derived from the group IIA to VIA and Group IB to VIIIB of elements in the Periodic Table. The metallic salt simultaneously releases the multivalent metal cation and the organic acid anion for both pigment management and ink-drying.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a purified salt of 4-sulfophenyl-[(1-oxyalkanoyl)amino] alkanoate. The process comprises the steps of: (a) providing a source of 4-sulfophenyl-[(1-oxyalkanoyl)amino] alkanoate; (b) admixing the source with a water-based purification system to form a purification mixture, the water-based purification system having water present at a ratio of 4-sulfophenyl-[(1-oxyalkanoyl)amino] alkanoate to water ranging from about 1:0.05 to about 1:50, preferably from about 1:0.1 to about 1:40; (c) separating a purified salt of 4-sulfophenyl-[(1-oxyalkanoyl)amino] alkanoate from the purification mixture; and (d) collecting said purified salt of 4-sulfophenyl-[(1-oxyalkanoyl)amino] alkanoate. In preferred embodiments, the purification mixture includes a processing aide such as ethyl alcohol, propyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, acetone and mixtures thereof.
