Impact-resistant materials and pads are disclosed. An impact-resistant material includes a first elastomer layer having a first density, a second elastomer layer having a second density higher than the first density, a layer of high-tensile strength fibrous material, and a polymer layer. These layers are preferably be arranged in the order in which they are recited. These layers may also be included in an impact-resistant pad configured to be worn by a user. The first elastomer layer is positioned directly adjacent the user when the pad is worn by the user.

The present invention provides a polyolefin multilayer microporous membrane that has a low air permeability value, maintains high porosity and mechanical strength even when formed into a thin film, has excellent impedance characteristics, and has excellent battery characteristics when used as a battery separator. (Solution) A polyolefin multilayer microporous membrane including a first microporous layer and a second microporous layer; the first microporous layer including a first polyolefin resin containing a polypropylene; the second microporous layer including a second polyolefin resin containing an ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene; and the polyolefin multilayer microporous membrane satisfying the following requirements (I) and (II). (I) A membrane thickness is not greater than 25 µm, and the membrane thickness (µm) and a porosity (%) satisfy the relationship in the formula below. Porosity % / thickness µm ‰¥ 3.0 (II) An air permeability in terms of a membrane thickness of 16 µm is not less than 100 sec/100 cm 3 and not greater than 300 sec/100 cm 3 .

The present invention provides multilayer sheet structures especially suited for thermoforming applications such as refrigerator cabinet and door liners comprising a surface non-foamed layer A and a surface foamed layer B having a total sheet thickness of from about 0.5 to about 20 millimeters (“mm”). Improvements in thermoformability, including cycle time reduction and polymer and energy savings, are provided. Preferably the non-foamed thermoplastic polymer surface layer (A) has a thickness of from about 0.25 to about 6 millimeters and the foamed thermoplastic polymer surface layer (B) together with any other foamed polymer layers have a total density reduction of at least about five (5) weight percent and have a total thickness greater than the total thickness of the non-foamed layer A together with any other non-foamed layers. Also provided are improvements in the thermoforming process, thermoformed articles, processes for providing thermally insulating articles and thermally insulating articles.

Mat (10) for gymnastics and physical rehabilitation and re-education, apt to perform appropriate treatment in order to strengthen and re-educate the muscle and tendon structure of the human body. The mat is made from a tray delimited by a perimetric frame (70) of polyethylene containing at least one layer (90) of viscoelastic or memory, glued on underlying layers (80) of polyethylene and polyurethane glued together, always contained inside the said tray, and at least one step removable (100, 200) and repositionable firmly on the mat, and at least one insert (300) also removable and repositionable firmly into the mat. The perimetric frame of density higher than of the layers of the material contained, allows the feet resting astride the perimetric frame, a flexion movement, extension of the tibiotarsal articulation along its transverse axis, exerting a pressure massage due to the body weight standing upright on the foot plant, at vascular vesicles level, obtaining a venous return increase.
