The invention further relates to a driver assistance apparatus suitable for carrying out the method.

A method is provided for determining a maximum speed limit for a reversing vehicle combination that includes a towing vehicle and at least one towed trailer. The method includes determining a maneuver that is to be performed by the vehicle combination, simulating the complete maneuver in advance by using a control algorithm and a state space model, thereby obtaining the steering behavior of the vehicle combination during the maneuver, and calculating the maximum speed limit for the vehicle combination during the maneuver by using at least one predefined limiting condition. A maximum speed limit for a reverse assistance function can be estimated in advance, which allows for a faster and more efficient reversing of the vehicle combination, and at the same time allows for an improved comfort for the driver.

The regulating system (2) further comprises a first measuring unit (26) adapted to determining the direction RV1 for an angle V1 of the wheels on the steered wheel shaft (12) relative to L1 in the vehicle's direction of forward movement, and a second measuring unit (28) adapted to determining the direction RVK for an angle VK at the articulation (10) between the first and second longitudinal axes (L1, L2), said first and second measuring units (26, 28) being adapted to conveying RV1 and RVK respectively to said processing unit (16) which is adapted to determining said second control signal (24) for said rear steering unit (22) on the basis of at least RV1 and RVK so that if RV1 does not coincide with RVK the second control signal (24) is determined such that the steerable tag axle (14) is centred.

The present invention relates to a trolley coupling device (5, 6) arranged to be mounted on one end of a first trolley (1). The coupling device (5, 6) includes connection means (12) for connection to a complementary connection means (13) of a second trolley (2). The coupling device (5, 6) includes a stationary part (5) arranged to be attached to the first trolley (1) and a movable part (6) provided with the connection means (12). The movable part (6) is pivotable by a first pivot mechanism (58) around a first pivot axis (P1) in a first operation mode and pivotable by a second pivot mechanism (68) around a second pivot axis (P2) in a second operation mode. The pivot axes (P1, P2) extend vertically through the stationary part (5) and are located at a distance from each other. According to the invention, the first (58) and second (68) pivot mechanisms and the movable part (6) are located in the same horizontal plane. A method of avoiding a collision while operating a vehicle in reverse comprises detecting an object proximate to a vehicle with at least one sensor including detecting objects located along side of a vehicle and determining a predicted vehicle path, including a tracking path for front wheels of the vehicle. A probability is determined with a controller located within the vehicle of collision of one of the front corner and a side of the vehicle with the object while the vehicle is travelling in reverse and at least one collision avoidance response is determined with the controller based on the probability of collision.
