A lubricant composition is disclosed that is suitable for direct fuel injected, crankcase-scavenged two-stroke cycle engines. That lubricant composition has a major amount of at least one oil of lubricating viscosity, a minor amount of a lubricity additive, a polyalkyl amide, an imidazoline, a polyisobutylene, and a functionalized polyisobutylene. The lubricity additive contains glycerol monooleate, an acid aliphatic aromatic amine-phosphate, and sodium sulfonate. The acid aliphatic aromatic amine-phosphate has a phosphorus/oxygen atom ratio of from 4.0:1 to 4.5:1, and at least 1.2 equivalents of acid to 1.0 equivalents of base.

Novel dispersant compositions for lubricating oil are described. They exhibit little fluoroelastomer antagonism and are effective in controlling sludge, varnish and wear. The dispersants comprise two components. One is formed by reacting aminoguanidine with a long chain succinic acylating agent. The product may be borated if desired. The other component is formed by reacting (i) a succinic acylating agent and (ii) an alkylene polyamine, and then heating the resultant succinimide concurrently or in any sequence with (iii) a dicarboxylic acylating agent having less than 20 carbon atoms, and (iv) a boron compound to form a product having (1) a total base number of about 33-45 milligrams of KOH per gram of product, excluding weight of any solvent or diluent, and (2) a boron level of about 1.0-1.4 wt% excluding weight of any solvent or diluent.

Oxidation can be effected by chemical oxidation (e.g. dichromate treatment), catalytic dehydrogenation or treatment with molecular oxygen. Additive suitable for use in lubricating oils or fuels, can be prepared by reaction of compounds of formula (I) with polyamines. These additives are preferably further subjected to hydrogenation before use. Fuel composition comprising these additives are described.
