摘要:
The invention relates to a method for producing a genetically modified organism of the genus Blakeslea, said method comprising the following steps: (i) at least one of the cells is transformed, (ii) the cells obtained in step (i) are optionally rendered homokaryotic, so that cells are created in which the nuclei are all homogeneously modified in at least one genetic characteristic and convert said genetic modification into an expression, and (iii) the genetically modified cell or cells are selected and cultivated.

The invention relates to a novel method for obtaining carotenoids, especially as Blakeslea. Disclosed is a fermentation method enabling increased lycopen production based on trisporic acid addition. The process is carried out using wild stocks or mutants thereof in single or mixed crop systems. Trisporic acids are added at the beginning of fermentation or during fermentation. The origin of the trisporic acids can be a partially purified preparation or a non-purified source.

Membranous bacteria that produce astaxanthin and other carotenoids are described, as well as isolated nucleic acids and expression vectors that can be used for producing carotenoids in microorganisms.

The invention provides a method of producing α-tocopherol and α-tocopheryl esters and a method of producing vitamin A or β-carotene. The methods comprise using a biological system to produce farnesol or geranylgeraniol. Then, the farnesol or geranylgeraniol is chemically converted into α-tocopherol, an α-tocopheryl ester, vitamin A or β carotene.

Disclosed is a fermentation method of astaxanthin using Phaffia rhodozyma comprising the steps of: (a) in the growing phase, feeding of a nutrient medium containing glucose or sucrose based on the specific growth rate (µ) of Phaffia rhodozyma cells, and (b) in the astaxanthin production phase, feeding of the nutrient medium based on the astaxanthin production rate, while keeping the glucose concentration in the fermentation broth almost 0 g/L during the whole fermentation period.

The present invention relates to a gene useful in a process to increase the microbial production of carotenoids. The carotenoids astaxanthin is distributed in a wide variety of organisms such as animals, algae and microorganisms. It has a strong antioxidation property against reactive oxygen species. Astaxanthin is used as a coloring reagent, especially in the industry of farmed fish, such as salmon, because astaxanthin imparts distinctive orange-red coloration to the animals and contributes to consumer appeal in the marketplace.

The invention relates to a method for the production of β-carotinoids by the cultivation of genetically-modified plants, the genetically-modified plants and the use thereof as human and animal foodstuffs and for the production of β-carotinoid extracts.
