    摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an unsaturated carboxylic acid polymer which is excellent in biodegradability and useful as a detergent builder exhibiting a high capability as a calcium ion scavenger; its production method; and a builder, a detergent composition, and a dispersant prepared by using the same. SOLUTION: This polymer has structural units comprising unsaturated carboxylic acid residues (e.g. acrylic acid residues or acrylic acid residues and maleic acid residues) and structural units in the form of hydroxyphenyl groups or aminophenyl groups bonded to methylenic main chains through amide groups, and has a number average mol.wt. of 500-1,000,000. A method for producing the polymer and a biodegradable builder, a detergent composition, and a dispersant each prepared from the polymer are also provided.

    摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a copolymer having thermal responsibility, amino acid-identifying ability and ability for carrying out optical resolution of isomers, as an aqueous solution, and having excellent activities as a thermal responsive polymer, an agent for identifying an amino acid, and a reagent for optical resolution of isomers. SOLUTION: This copolymer is represented by formula I [(m) is 50-95 mol.%, (n) is 5-50 mol.%]. The copolymer is obtained by copolymerizing a compound of formula II (Z is a protective group of an amino group; Y is a protective group of OH of carboxy group) with N-n-propylacrylamide(NnPAAm), and deprotecting the protective groups Z and Y of the copolymerized product. The solution of the copolymer is utilized as a thermal responsive polymer, because the aqueous solution of the copolymer dissolved in water at the temperature not higher than the transition temperature causes phase separation at the temperature not lower than the transition temperature, and becomes insoluble in the water and opaque. The thermal responsive polymer is a polymer changing the solubility in the water at 0-100 deg.C and manifesting a behavior reversely becoming soluble and insoluble.

    摘要: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical material having excellent surface hydrophilicity, transparency, a high refractive index and excellent resistance to staining with fat by using a polymer obtained by polymerizing a polymerization component containing a methionine derivative having a specified structure as the monomer. SOLUTION: The methionine derivative (monomer A) is represented by formula I [wherein A is CH2 =CR (wherein R is H or methyl), formula II (wherein R is a direct bond or a 1-3C alkylene) or the like; R is H, a 1-3C alkyl or trimethylsilyl] and is desirably exemplified by a methionine methyl ester methacrylate represented by formula III. An optical material comprising a polymer obtained by polymerizing a polymerization component containing monomer A has the above mentioned excellent properties. The content of monomer A in this case is 0.1-90 wt.%. Even when monomer A is used in combination with a double-bond-containing monomer copolymerizable therewith, the obtained optical material has the above mentioned excellent properties.
