    摘要: An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) assembly (23) for an internal combustion engine, including an EGR valve (54) having a valve stem (55) reciprocating within a housing (61), between open (FIG. 3) and closed positions. Preferably, the EGR assembly is mounted on the exhaust manifold (15), and the EGR valve can communicate exhaust gas back to the intake manifold (13) in a known manner. The EGR assembly includes an electric motor (41), and a gear train (65) to move the EGR valve (54) in response to changes in an electrical input signal. A plurality of power electronic components (97) are disposed within a controls housing (91), which defines a slot (99) in face-to-face relation to a cooling chamber (81) defined by the housing (61) surrounding the valve stem (55). The cooling chamber (81) and the slot (99) cooperate to define a coolant passage, and the valve stem (55) and the power components (97) are in close proximity to the coolant passage, thus permitting the use of less expensive electrical components, rated for relatively lower temperatures.

    摘要: A hybrid powertrain system includes a transmission operative to transfer power between an input member and a torque machine and an output member coupled to a driveline coupled to a wheel including an actuable friction brake. The torque machine is operative to react torque transferred from the wheel through the driveline to the output member of the transmission. The torque machine is connected to an energy storage device. A method for operating a hybrid powertrain system includes monitoring an operator torque request input to an accelerator pedal, determining a minimum available power output of the energy storage device, determining a preferred output torque reacted through the output member to the driveline based upon the minimum available power output of the energy storage device, determining a regenerative braking torque capacity comprising a torque range between the preferred output torque reacted through the output member to the driveline and the operator torque request input to the accelerator pedal, and controlling operation of the hybrid powertrain based upon the regenerative braking torque capacity.

    摘要: A valve control system for an internal combustion engine including a poppet valve (21) and high lift (15) and low lilt (31) cam lobes. A latchable rocker arm includes an outer rocker arm (33) and an inner rocker arm (35), and a slider mechanism (37) which is biased by a spring (67) to the high lilt mode (FIG. 1). An actuator assembly (27) includes and arm (103) biased by a spring (101) into engagement with the slider (37), biasing the slider toward the unlatched (low lift) mode (FIG. 2 ). The actuator (27) includes an electromagnetic coil (83) which moves an armature (87) into engagement with the arm (103), biasing the arm in opposition to the force of the actuator spring (101), but aided initially by the force of the slider spring (67).
