摘要: A method of making a holographic data storage medium is provided. The method comprises: (a) providing an optically transparent substrate comprising at least one photochemically active dye; and (b) irradiating the optically transparent substrate at least one wavelength at which the optically transparent substrate has an absorbance in a range from about 0.1 to 1, to produce a modified optically transparent substrate comprising at least one optically readable datum and at least one photo-product of the photochemically active dye. The at least one wavelength is in a range from about 300 nanometers to about 800 nanometers. The optically transparent substrate is at least 100 micrometers thick, and comprises the photochemically active dye in an amount corresponding to from about 0.1 to about 10 weight percent based on a total weight of the optically transparent substrate.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a method of manufacturing a data storage media comprising mixing a photoactive material, a photosensitizer and an organic binder material to form a holographic composition, wherein the photoactive material undergoes a change in color upon reaction with the photosensitizer; and molding the holographic composition into holographic data storage media. Disclosed herein too is a method for recording information comprising irradiating an article that comprises a photoactive material; a photosensitizer and an organic polymer, wherein the irridation is conducted with electromagnetic energy having a wavelength of about 350 to about 1,100 nanometers, wherein the photoactive material can undergo a change in color upon reaction with the photosensitizer; and reacting the photoactive material to record data in holographic form.

摘要: The invention provides a system for generating X-rays via the process of inverse Compton scattering. The system includes a high repetition rate laser adapted to direct high-energy optical pulses in a first direction in a laser cavity and a source of pulsed electron beam adapted to direct electron beam in a second direction opposite to the first direction in the laser cavity. The electron beam interacts with photons in the optical pulses in the laser cavity to produce X-rays in the second direction.

摘要: A technique is provided for using a laser based X-ray source for imaging systems such as computed tomography (CT) system. The laser based X-ray source may be provided as an X-ray bulb that emits X-rays when exposed to a laser beam. The X-ray bulb includes a bulb envelope and a bulb coating disposed on a portion of the bulb envelope, such that it acts as a focusing surface. The X-ray bulb also includes a target rotating about an axis such that a varying portion of the target passes through the focal point of the focusing surface. An X-ray producing plasma is generated when the laser beam is focused on the rotating target via the bulb coating.
