The method includes: defining a plurality of search parameters; crawling the world wide web or selected parts thereof, or searching predefined web sites, to identify content matching one or more of said search parameters; generating image triggers by extracting the identified content or generating digital fingerprints indicative of the identified content; storing the image triggers in a database, together with respective alternative content or alternative content identifiers; receiving an image captured from a printed or displayed medium at an end user device; searching the captured image to identify a presence of at least one of the image triggers in the captured image; and causing alternative content corresponding to the at least one of the image triggers to be displayed or presented at the end user device, or a respective other device associated with the end user device.

A method of optically outputting information (e.g. digital data) from a semiconductor device, the method comprising: providing a semiconductor device having a semiconducting p-n junction, the p-n junction having a region of reduced free charge carrier density; applying an electrical signal to modulate the extent of the said region, the electrical signal being representative of the information to be outputted; arranging incident light to pass through at least part of the said region, such that the light is at least partially absorbed in dependence upon the modulated extent of the said region, thereby producing intensity-modulated output light; and detecting the intensity of the output light and thereby determining the outputted information. An amplifier stage suitable for current conveyors and current mode feedback operational amplifiers has low input resistance and operates at low power. The amplifier stage comprises a buffer having inverting and non-inverting inputs and a pair of current outputs, and a pair of multiple output current mirrors which operate in conjunction with the buffer to generate an output current at a high gain node in response to an input signal applied to the buffer inputs. Each multiple output current mirror has a low impedance current input for receiving current signals generated by the buffer and multiple high impedance current outputs for providing current feedback to the inverting input of the buffer and output current to the high gain node of the amplifier stage. The magnitudes of the feedback and output currents are determined by the resistances of current scaling resistors associated with the low impedance current input and each of the high impedance current outputs.
