Abstract: A valve apparatus performs at least one of a first operation in which an electric motor is energized in a valve-close direction and a rotation shaft is rotated until its rotation is stopped and a second operation in which the electric motor is deenergized and a valve is fully closed by a biasing force of a return spring. Thereby, a rotation angle of the rotation shaft becomes a rotation-stop angle or the rotation angle becomes in the backlash range, so that a biasing force of the return spring is not transmitted to the rotation shaft. Then, the electric motor generates a specified torque, which is less than a valve-opening torque by which the valve starts opening. Thereby, a rotation angle of the rotation shaft can be stopped at a full-close angle. The full-close angle can be made correspond to an output of a rotational angle sensor.

Abstract: A valve device includes: a driving source making rotational motion; a rotated part provided rotatably around a predetermined axis; and a fluid passage portion having a flow hole for passing a fluid. The valve device further includes: a gear mechanism having gears to transmit rotational motion of the driving source to the rotated part by engagement between the gears to rotate the rotated part; and a biasing part biasing the rotated part toward one side in a circumferential direction with the predetermined axis at the center. The rotated part includes a rotor increasing or reducing an opening of the flow hole in conjunction with rotation of the rotated part and is rotated according to rotational motion of the driving source while being biased toward the one side in the circumferential direction by the biasing part.

Abstract: Positioning of a cover relative to a housing is made at two locations. i.e., fitting between a first intermediate shaft and a first recess and fitting between a second intermediate shaft and a second recess. In this way, a load of the cover is not conducted to an output shaft through a cover-side bearing. Therefore, in a state where the cover is fixed to the housing, an excessively large load is not generated between a cover-side bearing and the output shaft and a housing-side bearing and the output shaft.

Abstract: In an exhaust system for an internal combustion engine, an output member is configured to transmit power generated by a motor to a valving element via a valve stem. An output shaft is disposed on a rotation central axis of an output gear and coupled with the output gear to be rotatable integrally therewith. A follower is disposed eccentrically relative to a rotation central axis of the output shaft and connected to the output shaft to be rotatable integrally therewith. A first accommodating chamber accommodates at least the valve stem and the follower. A second accommodating chamber accommodates at least the motor and the output gear. A housing includes a housing wall that divides the first chamber from the second chamber. The housing wall includes a first bearing slidably supporting the output shaft in its rotation direction, and a cylindrical first bearing holder holding outer periphery of the first bearing.

Abstract: A valve device includes a housing, a flow hole forming portion and a rotor. The housing has a passage for fluid. The flow hole forming portion is fixed at the passage and includes: a plurality of flow holes, each of which is configured to conduct the fluid; and at least one partition which is placed between corresponding adjacent two of the flow holes. The rotor includes a passage opening and a closing portion. The at least one partition of the flow hole forming portion has: a parallel portion which extends in parallel with a radial direction of an imaginary circle centered on a rotational axis; and a progressively varying portion which is placed on an outer side of the parallel portion in the radial direction. A width of the progressively varying portion measured in a circumferential direction is progressively increased toward the outer side in the radial direction.

Abstract: A plurality of reinforcing ribs, which extend from a cover-side bearing in an outer radial direction, is formed at a portion of a cover, at which a reaction force generated in response to operation of an electric actuator is applied. The reinforcing ribs can improve strength of the portion of the cover, at which the reaction force is applied. Therefore, it is possible to avoid a damage, such as deformation, a crack, at the resin cover caused by the reaction force applied to the cover.

Abstract: A rotation stop shape is visually recognizable through an exposing hole. A relative angle between an output shaft and an actuator lever can be freely set while the rotation stop shape, which is visually recognizable through the exposing hole, is used as the reference angle of the output shaft. Therefore, it is possible to limit disadvantageous variations in a fixation angle of the actuator lever. The fixation angle of the actuator lever relative to the output shaft can be freely changed by using the rotation stop shape, which is visually recognizable through the exposing hole, as a reference angle of the output shaft.

Abstract: A housing includes an opening portion, which opens in one direction. At the time of assembling, the opening portion of the housing is placed to face an upper side. Then, a wave washer, an electric motor and screws for motor fixation are assembled from the upper side, and a first intermediate shaft and a second intermediate shaft are press-fitted, and a lower bearing, an output shaft, a second intermediate gear, a first intermediate gear are assembled. Thereafter, a cover is installed from the upper side to the housing. Next, an actuator lever is connected to a distal end part of the output shaft. As discussed above, the electric actuator can be assembled without inverting an orientation of the housing, and thereby productivity can be improved.

Abstract: A cam full close stopper defines a cam full close position that is a limit position of a rotatable range of a cam. A sensor element outputs a signal corresponding to a rotation angle of the cam. A signal processor changes the signal output from the sensor element into a sensor output. A storage part memorizes a data table representing a correspondence relationship between the rotation angle of the cam and the sensor output of the signal processor in a predetermined form, characteristics of the sensor output being adjustable at a plurality of points with respect to the rotation angle of the cam. The storage part memorizes the sensor output of the signal processor when the cam is fully closed at the cam full close position.
