Abstract: A non-solvent two-component polyurethane artificial leather composition is provided. The polyurethane composition comprises (A) a polyurethane-prepolymer component, comprising one or more polyurethane-prepolymers prepared by reacting at least one polyisocyanate compound with at least one first polyol, wherein the polyurethane-prepolymer comprises at least two free isocyanate groups; and (B) a polyol component, comprising at least one second polyol; wherein the polyol component further comprises an encapsulated foaming agent comprising at least one foaming core phase encapsulated within an outer shell. The polyurethane leather product derived from the polyurethane composition exhibits enhanced stability, mild bubble generation and improved cost effectiveness. A polyurethane leather product prepared with said composition and the method for preparing the same are also provided.

Abstract: A synthetic leather article comprising a top coating derived from an internally emulsified PUD, a barrier layer derived from an externally emulsified PUD and a 2K non-solvent PU foam layer is provided. The leather article exhibits high delamination resistance while retaining superior mechanical properties and appearance comparable with those derived from the organic solvent-based PU. Abstract: A waterborne polyurethane dispersion for the polyurethane foam of synthetic leather application, derived from (1) a prepolymer derived from the reaction of reactants comprising at least one aromatic isocyanate compound, an ethylene oxide-capped polyether triol, at least one polyether diol, and at least one polyester diol; (2) water; and (3) surfactant, is disclosed. The waterborne polyurethane dispersion can be used to prepare a synthetic leather product having superior wrinkle resistance, hand-feeling and peel strength. A synthetic leather article prepared with said waterborne polyurethane dispersion is also disclosed.

Abstract: An internally emulsified polyurethane dispersion, which is prepared by using a combined chain extender system of a hydrophilic amino siloxane compound and a polyetheramine compound, is provided. The internally emulsified polyurethane dispersion can be used to prepare a synthetic leather product having good anti-stickiness, wrinkle resistance, color fastness and superior mechanical properties. A laminated synthetic leather article prepared with said internally emulsified polyurethane dispersion as well a method for preparing the synthetic leather article are also provided.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a foam composition comprising an olefin copolymer that comprises ethylene and an α-olefin or propylene and an α-olefin; an unneutralized carboxylated olefin copolymer; a crosslinking agent; and a blowing agent; where the foam composition is substantially free from neutralized carboxylated ethylene copolymer. Disclosed herein too is a method of manufacturing a foam composition comprising blending together an olefin copolymer that comprises ethylene and an α-olefin or propylene and an α-olefin; an unneutralized carboxylated olefin copolymer; a crosslinking agent; and a blowing agent to form the foam composition; where the foam composition is substantially free from neutralized carboxylated ethylene copolymer; heating the foam composition to activate the blowing agent to form a foam; and crosslinking the foam.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods of producing externally stabilized, poromeric synthetic leathers having improved peel strength, the methods comprising: preparing a prepolymer from a mixture comprising at least one polyester polyol, at least one polyether polyol, at least one isocyanate and optionally in a solvent; mixing the prepolymer, water, and a first surfactant; optionally add a second chain extender to form a PUD; preparing a mixture comprising said PUD, at least one surfactant, and at least one thickener; frothing said mixture; applying the frothed mixture to a fabric and thereby forming a coated fabric; adjusting the thickness of the frothed mixture on the coated fabric; drying the coated fabric. Methods of improving the peel strength of poromeric synthetic leathers are also disclosed. Externally stabilized synthetic leathers having improved peel strength are also disclosed.
