    Abstract: The invention provides a process to form a “functionalized ethylene-based polymer” from an ethylene-based polymer and at least one polar compound, said process comprising thermally treating a composition comprising the ethylene-based polymer, the at least one polar compound, and at least one peroxide, in at least one extruder comprising at least one barrel, to form a polymer melt; and wherein the at least one peroxide has a half life, at the maximum barrel temperature of the at least one extruder, of less than of the minimum residence time of the polymer melt in the at least one extruder. The invention further provides a composition comprising at least the following: a) an ethylene-based polymer comprising a melt viscosity, at 350° F. (177° C.), less than 50.000 cP, and b) at least one peroxide comprising a half-life from 0.10 to 2.00 minutes, at a temperature from 160° C. to 190° C.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure include a hardener compound for curing with an epoxy resin, where the hardener compound includes a copolymer having a first constitutional unit of the formula (I), a second constitutional unit of the formula (II), and a third constitutional unit of the formula (III), where each q, n and m is independently a positive integer; each b is independently selected from the group of 6, 8, 10 and 12; each Y is independently an organic group; and each R is independently selected from the group of a hydrogen, an organic group and a halogen. Embodiments of the present disclosure include an epoxy system that includes the hardener compound and an epoxy resin.

    Abstract: An injection-molded shell of a dosage form of good quality is producible by a) providing a composition comprising i) from 25 to 90 weight percent of ethylcellulose, ii) from 7.5 to 60 weight percent of a polysaccharide or polysaccharide derivative being different from ethylcellulose, and iii) from 2.5 to 50 weight percent of at least one component being different from polysaccharides and polysaccharide derivatives, based on the total weight of the composition, with the proviso that the composition comprises zero or not more than 10 weight percent of gelatin and zero or not more than 10 weight percent of a polymer comprising homo- or copolymerized acrylic acid, homo- or copolymerized methacrylic acid, a homo- or copolymerized acrylate or a homo- or copolymerized methacrylate, and b) subjecting the composition to shearing and heat to plasticize the composition and injection-molding the plasticized composition into a three-dimensional shell of a dosage form.
