A dual mass flywheel and dual clutch module assembly includes a connector plate and a drive plate. The connector plate is fastened to a center plate of the dual clutch module and has a plurality of castellation tabs disposed on an inner periphery of the connector plate. The drive plate drivingly connected to a flywheel member of the dual mass flywheel and includes a plurality of castellation tabs disposed on an inner periphery of the drive plate. The plurality of castellation tabs of the connector plate are interleaved with the plurality of castellation tabs of the drive plate.

A transmission assembly for mounting to an external power-source includes an input shaft configured to receive power-source torque. The transmission assembly also includes an output member configured to transmit a transmission output torque to drive a load. The transmission assembly additionally includes a countershaft driven by and arranged parallel to the input shaft. The countershaft has a first gear-set rotatably mounted thereon and is configured to drive the output member. The transmission assembly also includes a second gear-set in mesh with the first gear-set and operatively connected to the output member. Furthermore, the transmission assembly includes an electric motor configured to be selectively connected to the input shaft via a first torque transfer device and to the output member via a second torque transfer device to thereby provide a variable electric motor internal torque input to the transmission assembly. A vehicle having such a transmission and power-source is also disclosed.

A multi-mode continuously variable transmission (CVT) for a motor vehicle includes a transmission input member, a transmission output member, a planetary gear set, a forward clutch, a brake, and a continuously variable unit having a first pulley, a second pulley, and an endless member wrapped around the first pulley and the second pulley. A first transfer gear set is connected to the transmission output member. A second transfer gear set is connected to the transmission output member. A dual clutch assembly is provided having a first clutch and a second clutch, wherein the first clutch selectively connects the second pulley to the first transfer gear set and the second clutch selectively connects the second pulley to the second transfer gear set. The dual clutch assembly provides two modes or ranges of continuously variable speed ratios between the transmission input member and the transmission output member.

A transmission having a rotating clutch pack assembly is provided, the rotating clutch pack having an interconnecting member, a plurality of friction discs, a rotating member, a first and a second axial bearing, and a biasing member. The interconnecting member is connected for common rotation with a member of the planetary gear set. The rotating member is connected to the second set of friction discs for common rotation. The first axial bearing is disposed between the clutch piston and the plurality of friction discs and the second axial bearing is disposed between the plurality of friction discs and the transmission housing. The biasing member is disposed between the interconnecting member and the rotating member. A clutch piston selectively applies an axial force through the first axial bearing, the plurality of friction discs, and the second axial bearing to the transmission housing.
