Abstract:
Tongs for releasably clamping newspapers or other sheet-like commodities for movement with a conveyor have a housing connectable to the conveyor, a first jaw provided on the housing, a second jaw which is pivotable in or on the housing between open and closed positions adjacent and remote from the first jaw, respectively, and a mechanism for pivoting the second jaw. The mechanism employs a lever which is pivotable relative to the housing with and with respect to the second jaw between first and second end positions which respectively correspond to the open and closed positions of the second jaw, one or more springs which oppose pivotal movements of the lever relative to the second jaw during pivoting of the lever to its second end position, and a motion transmitting unit which operates between the lever and the spring or springs and is caused to move through a dead-center position during each movement of the lever between its first and second end positions. The unit can comprise a toggle joint or a cam and cam follower.
Abstract:
An arrangement for charging successive pockets on a conveyor path of an insetting machine with inset products with a given edge first. A sheet feeder disposed to convey the inset products approximately perpendicular to a conveying direction of the insetting machine is provided. Above the pockets a conveyor segment ends that is disposed downstream of the sheet feeder. The conveyor segment is formed by two endless adjacent flat belts and conveys the inset products from the sheet feeder to the pockets of the insetting machine. The inset products are grasped between respective conveying surfaces of the flat belts. Deflector rollers circulate the flat belts.
Abstract:
A device for pushing a stack of printed products from a table on which the stack is stacked has a stacking receptacle provided on the table and receiving the printed products for stacking. The stacking receptacle is defined by four lateral edges of the printed products and has two opposed lateral guide walls viewed in a pushing direction of pushing out the stack of printed products. The guide walls each have vertical guide rails moveable along the guide walls in the pushing direction. The guide rails on the opposed guide walls are positioned opposite one another in guide rail pairs forming a forward receptacle boundary and a rearward receptacle boundary in the pushing direction. The rearward receptacle boundary in the pushing direction is a pushing device for the stack of printed products.
Abstract:
A method for producing a roll from printed products in a winding operation includes winding the printed products with winding tape onto a winding core; driving a winding rug with a first drive, wherein the winding rug is arranged on the underside of the winding core and fitted against the winding core for rotating the winding core; driving a winding tape supply with a second drive, wherein the winding tape is unwound from the winding tape supply; and maintaining a predetermined tape tension during the winding operation. Maintaining the predetermined tape tension includes measuring speed and distance with measurement devices at the first and second drives to obtain measured values, computing the diameter of the winding tape supply with the measured values, and regulating a rotational moment with the computed diameter of the winding tape supply to maintain the tension.
Abstract:
An apparatus for feeding printed products to a processing unit includes a rotating conveyor drum which individually pulls the stacked printed products from a magazine; the conveyor drum has on an approximately circular travel path a gripping device formed by at least one movable gripping arm for receiving the printed product from the separating device, wherein the gripping device can be controlled into an open position or closed position by means of a cam mechanism connected to a closed guide track arranged in a vertical plane relative to the axis of rotation and stationary relative to the axis of rotation. The movable gripping arm of the gripping device is connected to a double roller lever which is mounted on the conveyor drum so as to be pivotable about an axis extending parallel to the axis of rotation of the conveyor drum and which travels in two closed guide tracks arranged stationary in at least one vertical plane about the axis of rotation of the conveyor drum.
Abstract:
An apparatus for stabilizing printed products being transported in a conveying stream over a distance hanging from clamps of a conveying device for transferring the printed products into a processing unit, wherein the clamps are of at least two parts including a clamp part which is movably controlled for opening and closing the clamp, and wherein between spaced-apart printed products a guide arrangement is provided which travels with the printed products and prevents a deflection of the printed products. The guide arrangement which includes the stabilizing elements is fastened at least to an immovable clamp part which interacts with the moveable clamp part, wherein the guide arrangement is moveable from an ineffective position into a support position behind the printed products which are being transported in the conveying direction.
Abstract:
A device for transporting printed products has an endless circulating traction member having support frames. Receiving elements configured to pick up supplied printed products and to release the printed products are fastened on the endless circulating traction member at regular spacings on the support frames and are in the form of rollers having a circumference. The rollers cooperate in roller pairs with one another and define between its circumference, respectively, a conveying gap. The support frames have axles extending perpendicularly to the conveying direction of the printed products. The rollers are drivingly supported with one end thereof on the axles.
Abstract:
An arrangement for the step-by-step conveyance of printed products, such as, newspapers, magazines or the like from a removal location, wherein the printed products are supplied to the removal location by a conveying unit approximately vertically and spaced apart from each other. The arrangement includes at least one set of gripping tongs for gripping the lower ends of the printed products at the removal location. The gripping tongs are connected to a driven hub. The gripping tongs are retractably controlled by the periphery of the hub which interacts with a friction wheel arranged after the removal location. The gripping tongs extend through a space which is arranged downstream and is provided for the controlled release of the printed products. The space is defined by conveying members which are driven in the same direction.
Abstract:
A method and device for producing printed products wherein first primary products are supplied, respectively, fold first to successive, uniformly-spaced pockets disposed transversely to a conveying direction at a beginning of a first segment of a production path formed by feeders. Subsequently, the first primary product in each pocket is grasped at a protruding gripping edge and opened for insertion of a partial product or enclosure. A further primary product is supplied, respectively, to the successive pockets on a further segment adjoining the first segment of the production path for producing a further printed product, including partial products or enclosures, in the successive pockets.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for collecting or gathering printed products to form final printed products, such as newspapers, magazines, brochures and/or books, wherein the printed products are moved along supply lines and are supplied to one or more processing locations. At least two of the printed products intended for forming a final printed product are combined at a collecting point provided in a supply line and the combined printed products are further transported together.
