摘要: The present disclosure is generally directed to a variety of thermally conductive materials for use in semiconductor devices or other applications. In some cases, the materials may include aligned fibers such as carbon fibers, e.g., defining a substrate, and a metal such as solder. In some cases, the metal may be present within a transition metal rich solder alloy, a conductive medium such as a conductive ink, a thermal chemical vapor deposited solder, an oxide coated liquid metal, an oxide coated liquid metal transition metal rich solder alloy, etc. The metal may have a relatively low melting temperature in certain embodiments. The metal may be interspersed or infiltrated between the plurality of discontinuous fibers, and/or surround at least some of the fibers. In some cases, the metal may react with the carbon fibers to form metal carbides and/or diffuse into the carbon fibers, which may facilitate contact between the metal and the carbon fibers. Other aspects are generally directed to devices using such compositions, methods of making such compositions, kits including such compositions, or the like.

摘要: A fabric containing nanotubes which is impervious to viruses, bacteria, and other pathogens; which is self-sterilizing and reusable; and a method of producing the same are disclosed. The fabric can be used to construct facemasks, gloves, protective suits, protective habitats, continuous air filtration/sterilization systems or any other type of protective clothing or structure. The fabric may have integrated temperature monitoring sensors. The fabric may be made into patches which may be integrated into existing articles of clothing. When connected to an electrical power source, either via built-in electrical connections or by induction, the active layer which is one of the components of the fabric will heat to a temperature high enough to eliminate potential biological contamination from viruses, bacteria and other microbial threats. Combining the CNT active layer with an insulating layer will allow a garment to be continuously worn or used without needing removal during multiple sterilization cycles.

摘要: A system and method for applying tension to a reinforcement member is provided. The system includes a gripping device, a tension device, and a tension application sub-system. The gripping device includes first and second attachments. Each attachment retains a respective end of the reinforcement member with sufficient friction force based on a predetermined tension to be applied to the reinforcement member. The tension device includes first and second tension tubes configured to removably receive and hold the first and second attachments, respectively. The tension application sub-system has first and second tension application apparatuses and first and second coupling devices. The first and second coupling devices couple the first and second tension tubes to the first and second tension application apparatuses, respectively. At least one of the first and second tension application apparatuses creates and controllably adjusts a tension load within the reinforcement member.

摘要: An improved method of producing activated carbon fabrics from cotton fabrics involves washing a piece of cotton fabric with a detergent before soaking the washed piece of cotton fabric in an acidic chemical such as phosphoric acid for a specific amount of time, and then drying the soaked piece of cotton fabric in an oven. After the fabric has been dried, it is heated in a furnace which is fed with a flow of nitrogen gas as the temperature of the furnace is gradually increased to a pre-determined temperature and kept at the pre-determined temperature for an extended amount of time, before allowing the temperature to gradually return back to room temperature. After being removed from the furnace and being washed with distilled water to remove any remnants of phosphoric acid, the resulting product is an activated carbon fabric.

摘要: A process to clean carbon fiber fabric of a pre-applied sizing, while simultaneously activating or preparing the fabric to receive a polymer resin is described. The cleaning process and chemistry combines an enzymatic cleaning solution with an oxidizing agent. The enzymatic solution strips the fibers of lubricants, surfactants, and other chemicals of the sizing which might otherwise interfere with interfacial properties and bonding of the fabric to the matrix resin. The inclusion of an oxidizing agent concurrently adds hydroxyl groups to the surface of the fabric allowing for the grafting of organic copolymers to the surface of the fabric, the copolymer being chosen based upon the desired polymer resin. This process provides a customized finished carbon fiber fabric to bond to a specific polymer resin, without interference resulting from an inadequate fiber sizing chemistry. In this way, a customizable finished fabric may be manufactured.
