    摘要: A system and method is disclosed for centralizing knowledge and improving programming for manufacturing a part. An embodiment includes a method for manufacturing the part. First, a model of the part is received. Next, a predetermined rule is retrieved from a computer readable medium having a plurality of predetermined rules. A feature of the geometric model is selected by evaluating the retrieved predetermined rule and a process is determined that is associated with the feature. Based on the process, computer code is generated to manufacture the part on a computer controlled machine.

The inventive method involves the following steps: a) providing a product data model of the product, in which each component is described by a partial data set containing a classification characteristic; b) preparing a database, whereby the data sets contained therein are divided into classes according to the classification characteristic, whereby each class contains one or more selection rules, whereby a manufacturing partial process provided with an index is assigned to each selection rule, and each manufacturing partial process contains one or more working cycles; c) automatically selecting the class applying to the component by using the classification characteristic; d) automatically selecting a manufacturing partial process suited for producing the component by using the selection rule; e) automatically establishing the sequence of the manufacturing partial processes by using the respective index.

    摘要: The present invention provides a CAD system, a program for operating the system and a recording medium. The system is capable of automatically recognizing parts to be processed, from CAD data which only contains a product shape, and generating the shape of body to be processed and the work contents therefore. The CAD system includes a processing information group (15) and a process definition group (18). The processing information group includes: a processed-body division (15a) which stores a part whose material substance is to be removed by a single or a series of processing operations, as a body for each of the process operations by pre-defined work instructions; and a process-contents division (15b) which stores information about work contents of each process operation in relation to the body. The process definition group contains definitions of a plurality of process operations. Upon selection from the process operations and parts to be processed (51′ through 59′) in an original product body (50′), shape information is extracted for each of the selected parts to be processed (51′-59′) and tools and parameters for processing the extracted shape are determined, a processed bodes (51-59) are generated, the generated processed bodies (51-59) are stored in the processed-body division (15a), and the determined tools and parameters are stored in the process-contents division (15b).

    摘要: Controlling software components for cutting machines are distributed in nature, and can be placed on any convenient processor on a network. Each is provided with its own network address, or specific ports are assigned thereto at a shared (e.g., IP or network) address, and the functionality of each component is executed without reference to its physical location on the network. Virtual machine components handle the collection of data from cutting machines, while a machine monitor component collects data from the virtual machine components. User interface interpreting and serving components are also distributed and portable, and a controlling user interface may therefore be accessed, viewed, and take user input wherever such tasks are most convenient. The changeable user interface permits machines, jobs, materials, and cutting elements to be managed centrally, or from distributed locations in the facility or on the Internet at large. Cutting elements may be tracked for lifetime and for replacement reasons and other commentary data. The components at each cutting machine, in cooperation with the database accessible therefrom, track the usage (e.g., in hours or area cut) of any particular cutting element, and records are automatically maintained.
