Abstract:
A tire comprising a plurality of tread blocks. At least one tread block includes one or more piers for stiffening the tread blocks while allowing normal lateral (tangential) or circumferential strain for normal braking and motive traction. The piers can extend the entire length dimension of the tread block or portions thereof.
Abstract:
Noise-reducing device intended to be added to a groove of the tread of a tire comprising an elastic sole preferably extending in a given longitudinal direction, wherein the said sole on one of its faces comprises one or several flexible walls the planes of which run substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the sole.
Abstract:
A tire tread comprising: a plurality of elements in relief (rib and/or block) comprising a contact face intended to come into contact with the roadway during travel and lateral faces, the intersection of each lateral face with the contact face forming a ridge, a plurality of cutouts in the form of grooves and/or incisions, said cutouts being defined by opposing main faces, each tread pattern element being formed with at least one rubber mix (referred to as “base mix”), and characterized in that, viewed in section in a plane containing the thickness of this tread, at least one face defining at least one cutout is formed at least in part with a rubber mix, referred to as “covering mix”, the base mix having a grip on wet ground which is lower than the grip of the covering mix on the same ground.
Abstract:
A tread (14) of a tire (10) includes a tread rubber layer (16). The tread rubber layer (16) has a two-layer structure including a base layer (23) and a cap layer (24). The base layer (23) is provided with a comb-shaped convex portion (26). The convex portion (26) is formed like a circle extended in the circumferential direction of the tire (10). A plurality of convex portions (26) is arranged in the axial direction of the tire (10) and is protruded in a radial direction. At least a part of the convex portions (26) is exposed to a tread surface (17) when the tire (10) is unused (brand-new). The cap layer (24) contains silica and the base layer (23) does not contain the silica.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a rubber article having a surface construction designed for abrasion resistance wherein the surface comprises a series of rubber layers parallel to each other and in a density of from at least 200 layers per 25.4 millimeters as measured along the surface area of the article and in a direction perpendicular to each layer.
Abstract:
A unidirectional pneumatic vehicle tire has a symmetric radial carcass and a symmetric package of belt plies placed on the carcass. The tire tread of an asymmetric tread design has at least three longitudinal grooves having a depth of 12 mm to 18 mm. The tire tread has an axially outer wide tread rib, positioned, when mounted on a vehicle, so as to face outwardly relative to the vehicle. The wide tread rib has a width of 25% to 40% of the width of the tire tread when measured at half the depth of an axially outer one of the longitudinal grooves positioned adjacent to the wide tread rib. The wide tread rib is free of any tread voids having a main direction of extension and is selected from the group consisting of longitudinal grooves, longitudinal sipes, transverse grooves, transverse sipes, diagonal grooves, and diagonal sipes. The wide tread rib has tread voids having in a top view of the tire tread a substantially round contour. The tread voids are arranged in 1 to 4 tracks in a circumferential direction of the tire tread, wherein each one of the tracks comprises 100 to 150 of the tread voids.
Abstract:
Pneumatic tires, particularly tires for heavy load vehicles are disclosed. In the tire of this type, the tread rubber is divided into three rubber portions of central and either side regions in the direction of rotational aixs of the tire. As the material of the tread rubber, the central region uses a rubber having a good cut resistance, while the either side region uses a rubber having a good wear resistance.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire having a sulfur-cured rubber tread comprised of an axially central tread portion positioned between two tread portions of about equal size, said tread portions required to be of particular rubber compositions and physical characteristics.
Abstract:
An endless tire-mounted anti-skid belt is produced by spreading an endless fibrous mesh to the diameter of the vehicle tire on which the belt is to be mounted, impregnating the spread endless mesh with a hot-vulcanizable elastomer dissolved in a solvent, drying the impregnated spread endless mesh until at least 80% of the solvent has been removed, repeating the impregnation and drying steps several times until a desired thickness of elastomer has been deposited on the spread endless mesh, and curing the elastomer by vulcanization in an autoclave under hot steam.
