摘要： A method is provided involving altering the viscosity of bio-derived paraffins to produce a paraffinic fluid, where the altering step includes chlorinating the bio-derived paraffins; the bio-derived paraffins include a hydrodeoxygenated product produced by hydrodeoxygenating a bio-based feed where the bio-based feed includes bio-derived fatty acids, fatty acid esters, or a combination thereof; the bio-derived paraffins include n-paraffins; and the n-paraffins have a biodegradability of at least 40% after about 23 days of exposure to microorganisms. Also provided are methods of protecting and/or cleaning a substance by applying the paraffinic fluid.

摘要： Disclosed is a mixture comprising the compound trans-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene and at least one additional compound selected from the group consisting of HFOs, HFCs, HFEs, CFCs, CO2, olefins, organic acids, alcohols, hydrocarbons, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, and others such as methyl formate, formic acid, trans-1,2 dichloroethylene, carbon dioxide, cis-HFO-1234ze+HFO-1225yez; mixtures of these plus water; mixtures of these plus CO2; mixtures of these trans 1,2-dichloroethylene (DCE); mixtures of these plus methyl formate; mixtures with cis-HFO-1234ze+CO2; mixtures with cis-HFO-1234ze+HFO-1225yez+CO2; and mixtures with cis-HFO-1234ze+HFC-245fa. Also disclosed are methods of using and products of using the above compositions as blowing agents, solvents, heat transfer compositions, aerosol propellant compositions, fire extinguishing and suppressant compositions.

摘要： New polyfluoroalkyl iodides of the formula ##EQU1## are provided, wherein R.sub.f represents a fluorinated hydrocarbon radical with 3 to 18 carbon atoms, R.sub.1 represents hydrogen or fluorine, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 each independently represents hydrogen, lower alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, carboxy, carbalkoxy, --(CH.sub.2).sub.p OCOR.sub.2, in which R.sub.2 represents hydrogen or alkyl with 1 to 3 carbon atoms and p is 0 or a whole number from 1 to 3, phenyl and alkylphenyl, or R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together with the carbon atoms to which they are bonded represent an optionally substituted cycloaliphatic radical with 5 or 6 ring carbon atoms, and n is a whole number from 1 to 3.The new compounds are useful as intermediates for the manufacture of oil- and water-repellents, as oil- and water-repellents per se, as lubricants and as surface active assistants.

摘要： A lubricant for working aluminium comprises an olefin or olefins of formula wherein R and R1 are hydrogen or fluorine, R1 may additionally be mono-, di- or trifluoromethyl and R11 is a saturated straight chain alkyl or fluoroalkyl radical having at least 8 carbon atoms. Preferred are straight-chain olefins or fluoro-olefins having 12 to 25 carbon atoms and unsaturation in the 1 or 2 position, and include cetene; 3,3,4-trifluorohexadecene-1; 1,1,1,2-tetrafluorohexadecene-2 and mixtures of olefins derived from the cracking of paraffin or the Fischer-Tropsch process. The olefins may be used by themselves, or with lubricating mineral oils or diesters, or diluted or dissolved in benzene, chlorinated hydrocarbons or kerosene. They may be also used in the form of aqueous emulsions or as greases. The effectiveness of the lubricants is compared with that of saturated compounds, or with compounds wherein the unsaturation is not in the 1- or 2-position.
