摘要: A method and a carrier medium carrying code to execute a method of designing a carton. The method includes accepting carton structural information, forming a 2D unfolded model of the substrate that when cut and folded forms the carton, and forming a 3D model of the carton. The method further includes displaying a 2D view of the unfolded carton design, and a perspective view of the 3D model. A user has the ability to manipulate the view of the 3D model, and also to select a flap of the carton on perspective view. As a result of the selecting, the method modifies the 2D unfolded view to be of the selected flap shown in an orientation suitable for designing the selected flap. The user designs the flap and the method accepts the design. The method includes modifying the perspective view of the 3D model to include any changes made in the design.

摘要: A method and an apparatus to encode a series of quantized coefficients of a transform of a block of image data. The transform is such that 0 is the most likely coefficient amplitude and 1 is the next most likely coefficient amplitude. The method includes forming symbols (called events) from the series of quantized transform coefficients. An event is a run of none or more zero-valued coefficients followed by a run of one of a predefined set of sequences, each sequence in the set being either a single coefficient of amplitude greater than one, or a sequence of 1's and 0's starting with a coefficient of amplitude 1. The method includes forming a codeword for each formed event. Relatively short codewords are formed to represent events that are relatively more likely to occur, and relatively long codewords are formed to represent events that are relatively less likely to occur. In one implementation, each event is a run of none or more zero-valued coefficients followed by one of a predefined set of sequences, each sequence in the set being either a single coefficient of amplitude greater than one, or a sequence of 1's and 0's starting with a coefficient of amplitude 1. In another implementation, an event is a run of none or more zero-valued coefficients followed by a run of one or more non-zero-amplitude coefficients. In a variation, The events include runs of none or more zero-valued coefficients followed by a subset of all possible runlengths of non-zero-amplitude coefficients. In one implementation, the subset includes no runs of length 2 or more of coefficients of amplitude 3 or more.

摘要: A substrate to be cut and/or scored is pre-printed with graphics, at least first and second registration marks, and optional encoded-to-print instructions, bar-encoded data, as well as ordinary graphics. The registration marks are sensed as the substrate is automatically transported to a cutting table station that defines a cutting reference plane. Sensed detection of location of the registration marks relative to the reference plane enable the cutting plan for the substrate to be amended for precise location of the graphics on the substrate relative to the reference plane. Automated cutting according to the amended cutting plan occurs. As the registration marks were printed simultaneously with and in known relationship to the graphics, the cut line will be precise relative to the graphics. Machine readable encoded-to-print instructions optionally printed on the substrate can further amend the cutting plan.

摘要: Systems and methods for precisely controlling the amount of redundancy introduced by a turbo encoding process. Bits having predetermined values are introduced into the turbo encoding input stream and then deleted from the turbo encoding output stream. At the receiver end, the bits having predetermined values are reintroduced into the encoded information stream as having been received with a maximum confidence level. Coding rate may be varied by varying the number of bits having predetermined values which are inserted at the encoder input. This scheme permits the amount of redundancy to be varied according to system requirements.

摘要: A method and apparatus for estimating channel characteristics in a multicarrier wireless receiver such as an OFDM wireless receiver. The method includes determining a channel estimate for each of a set of subcarriers by receiving multicarrier data as a result of a wireless transmission of data that includes a known signal, wherein the determining uses a part of the received data that corresponds to the known signal. The method further includes smoothing the channel estimates according to a smoothing filter to form smoothed channel estimates. The smoothed channel estimate for a particular subcarrier includes a contribution from the channel estimates of the particular subcarrier's one or more immediate neighbors to take advantage of correlation that may exist between the particular subcarrier's channel and the channels of that subcarrier's one or more immediate neighbors. In one version, the transmitted data includes at least one additional known signal, and each smoothed channel estimate is a smoothed version of the average of sets of channel estimates. In such a version, each set of channel estimates is determined using a respective part of the received data that corresponds to a corresponding one of the known signals.

摘要: A monolithic transceiver integrated circuit that includes a substrate, a transmitter subsystem of one or more subcircuits on the substrate, and a receiver subsystem of one or more subcircuits on the substrate. Also included is a bias current supply coupled to the receiver and transmitter subsystems to provide bias current. The bias current supply includes a first bias circuit on the substrate coupled to, and to supply bias current to, a first subcircuit of the transmitter subsystem. The first bias circuit includes a first current modulator having a first switch input to indicate that the bias current is to start or stop being supplied to the first subcircuit. The first current modulator is to control the rate of change of supplied bias current in response to the first switch input. The first subcircuit may be a power amplifier. The control of the rate of change reduces oscillator pull in at least one oscillator included in the integrated circuit.
